cowpuc Posted May 22, 2016 #26 Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) So you swapped carbs with Tweeks? Sure did Larry,, it wasnt plugs after all, when I went to double check your carb sync after I got the new plugs in her I noticed the number 4 intake was picking up a lot of raw fuel - plus she just wouldnt carb well.. Tweeks set there with a known good set of clean carbs which worked out PERFECT cause these numb fingers aint quite ready for a full blown carb job yet.. WOWZY brother,, that precious new scoot LOVES the transplant!! Also noticed while doing some reading in DenDens book (thanks for passing that on Larry - what an AWESOME read!!!) that he coated the floats - probably a saturation problem (done a few myself) and have a hunch that this alcohol infested fuel we use may have not been friendly with the coating.. Will know more when I get some feeling back in my fingers and can rip em apart.. By the way,, you mentioned you thought the diaphrams were good to go - brother those puppies appear to be brand new assemblies:thumbsup:!!! Been a LONG time since I have seen a new set like that - BEAUTIFUL!!! First time ever running Avon tires to Larry,, pretty impressive my friend!! After snapping the airbox back on her and syncing her new heart back down (by the way - your sync job was SPOT ON on the original carbs!!) I introduced her to the local twisties along the lake - this one dont flex and wallow like poor old Tweeks did and those Avons are AMAZING!!!! Hey,, did you know DenDen did her up with braided brake lines? Tested those too Still not sure where Tweeks glass/stickers are gonna play out in all this - Tip says she is just fine with any way I wanna handle it.. A short ride together proved we both prefer the stock seat over the Travel Cade thats on it so we will probably swap it out - them stickers may get caught in the process of that swap.. I see the mandatory hammer and crowbar:scared: 5 pound Hammer, Crowbar and 16 inch Channel Locks - all other tools are kids play !!! Lay a rag on the aluminum block, lay the hammer on the rag, pry up on the solid part of the carb throat so your pushing straight up and those four carbs will pop out of the intakes slicker then a skeeter landing on a wet lilly pad - on Tweeks I didnt have to bother with the rag but these new bikes are kind of finicky with their factory clear coated aluminum and all .. It's all good though,, it dont take long to get em broke in!!! Edited May 22, 2016 by cowpuc
Dragonslayer Posted May 22, 2016 #27 Posted May 22, 2016 Does this new pristine bike have a trailer hitch? If not it needs one. I think he should leave the bike pristine and get a harbor freight trailer kit and plaster the trailer with stickers.
Venturous Randy Posted May 22, 2016 #28 Posted May 22, 2016 When I first saw this I thought you had started making a parts bike out of it and using the parts on tweeks. Randy
cowpuc Posted May 22, 2016 #29 Posted May 22, 2016 When I first saw this I thought you had started making a parts bike out of it and using the parts on tweeks. Randy No doubt about it Randy,,,, you got my number
Carbon_One Posted May 22, 2016 #30 Posted May 22, 2016 Puc there should be 4 new floats in one of the parts boxes. Larry
bj66 Posted May 22, 2016 #31 Posted May 22, 2016 How about a pinstriper writing Tweeks II on it? Maybe up on the fairing below the throttle on right side where you can look down and see it while you are riding. And to keep the special stickers alive, put them on the inside of your bags so every time when you open them up it reminds you of a great memory.
oldgoat Posted May 23, 2016 #32 Posted May 23, 2016 heart beat could be a good name because inside of it lays the heart of tweeks
oldgoat Posted May 23, 2016 #33 Posted May 23, 2016 wait maybe trigger because I am sure you and tip are going to have many happy trails with her
stickhandle2 Posted May 23, 2016 #34 Posted May 23, 2016 Hey Puc, Happy for you and Tippy and the new scoot....give her a good name, you and Tippy enjoy your new adventures on another great bike.
