chippego Posted May 21, 2016 #1 Posted May 21, 2016 Hello. When I started to ride my 09 RSV this year I am having trouble with the headlight fuse blowing. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 15. I have had the fairing off 3 times looking for bare wires. I thought maybe something with the running light but does it on low beam with them off. What gets me is that it was fine when I quit last year. Figured mice but nothing chewed. Starts fine so don't mthink it is battery. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks
bongobobny Posted May 21, 2016 #2 Posted May 21, 2016 Do you have passing lights with the aftermarket light bar?? The light bar is prone to chaffing the wire where it enters/exits the light bar...
Bert2006 Posted May 21, 2016 #3 Posted May 21, 2016 Check the area of the steering stops. If you have the running light the wires for those sometimes get piched by the stop and then short out with the resulting blown fuse.
chippego Posted May 23, 2016 Author #4 Posted May 23, 2016 Hi again. While removing the light bar I found the 2 blue wires for the "parking lights" were pinched. Fine now. Thanks for the suggestions!
bongobobny Posted May 23, 2016 #5 Posted May 23, 2016 That'll do it every time!! Don't ask how all of us know about this issue...
JohnT Posted May 23, 2016 #6 Posted May 23, 2016 Hi again. While removing the light bar I found the 2 blue wires for the "parking lights" were pinched. Fine now. Thanks for the suggestions! One of the many reasons I like to pop in here, and occasionally even hang out with this crew. They can be so friendly and helpful. Mind you, not a single one that I have met is "right in the head". But they are a friendly bunch.
