Picking up a 2007 Midnight Venture tomorrow. I want to purchase highway pegs for the crash bars and a phone holder for the handlebars. Will someone please share with me the diameters of these two bars? I also see categories for 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen. What are the years separating the gens? Thanks in advance.

Picked up the bike today just before the rains hit. Forecast for the next few days is not looking good. Hopefully, I will get in a ride this weekend.

I have noticed that there is an "installed" intercom cable for the passenger, but I do not see one for the rider? Should there be one somewhere? In the manual, there is one pictured on the left side of the gas cap. I cannot find it anywhere.

Also, I thought that I read somewhere that there was a power port for the passenger....cant find that either. Is there one? If not, has anyone installed one?

Sometimes folks store the driver intercom cable under the tank cover. That is the peice that cover your ignition switch. Just remove the two bolts and it may be under there. There is an aux port on the left inside fairing. If you have the auxiliary lights the swich for them should be there also..a small black button.

Just to clarify....there is not actually a PORT but there is wiring for one. I don't know why Yamaha chose to advertise the port where it isn't actually there. As said, there is wiring for one under the seat. Two wires with a white connector. There is also a "plug" just above the side cover on the left side of the bike that can be removed and a port put in and then connected to those wires. Some people have found a connector to match up with it. Some of us just cut the thing off and add our own connectors.

The white plug under the seat that Freebird is talking about, should have both connector halves , the male side has black rubber plugs in it to seal it. If you decide to use that connector shoot me a PM, I have spare seals and male pins for that style connector. As I recall it is only good for something like 5 amps or less, if you need it for something like heated gear, you will need to run a different circuit or use that circuit to operate a relay to control a higher amperage circuit.

The front mic cable is probably stowed under the ignition surround, as previously noted, it comes from the factory attached to the tank just left of the tank bib , they use double sided tape to fasten it to the tank.

Not for me; did not like the feet position. I'll wait for the 3rd Gen like I do for the Great Pumpkin every year...

I don't think that we've ever really talked about first and second gen Royal Stars very much but I would say yes, When they came out with the new Royal Star in 2005, it was a much different bike that the earlier Royal Stars. I would definitely consider it a second gen.

I remember reading somewhere about "support" for the factory crash bar...mine seems to "flex" when pressure is applied. Anyone know where I can find that info?

They are made by @Carbon_One. I just bought a set of them and I think he only had a couple sets left so you just need to contact him to make sure he still has any. Here is his ad in the classifieds. Just a note. You will also need to order a pair of clamps that connect the brace to the crash bars. Larry will give you links to two different types. One is made by KuryAkin and the other is a three piece clamp by Cobra I think. The three piece type is about half the price and that is what I went with and they work fine.
