I spend fairly equal time here and on the Victory site.

On both forums guys post about smokin a Harley rider yet I've not once seen a post where someone blew away a Victory (on this site) or a Yamaha (on that site) ... nor has anyone spoken of beating a Kawasaki Voyager or even a Goldwing ...

whatz up wit dat?

I think I'll see if anyone coming to Kruis'n Kootenays is up for a little race ... then either they or I can post something other than "I smoked a Harley today" .... ( ahem ... not likely a Venture is gonna beat my Vic in any race.. ahem... ahem)

The simple fact of the matter is that it has a lot to do with the "Harley attitude" some have. I've been told more than once that if it isn't a Harley it isn't a real motorcycle. Hence, smoking one with any other bike becomes a pleasure. That attitude isn't all inclusive but much more so than the other brands. "Smoking a Victory" just isn't as satisfying. :)

Riding with friends, one on a Harley Night train, laughing at the wife and I at a stop light, on my First Gen, saying "Geez....is that thing even running?"

It was a few minutes later on a country road.....long straight stretch.....I heard that Harley rip...so I let my 87 stretch her legs a bit and put that Harley in the dust.

At the next stop light I got a bit more respect. "Geeze....that thing runs !!!"

To which I agreed smugly. :dancefool:

I was up to see my three brothers last week and they all own HD. My younger brother ask me when I was going to get one( wrong thing to ask me)I said when you GIVE me yours.

Even though I own two Harley's I enjoy playing with the hardcore ones with my Honda VTX. Thing is a Harley Rider has to get off some money to out run a 1800 Honda VTX.

I think Harley motorcycles are somewhat analogous to the American V8 cars, at least the older American cars. They have low end torque but don't have the sophisticated engine and the hp per cu in of the foreign cars but we all love that V8 rumble. The biggest difference is American cars were cheaper to buy and repair and Harleys are quite expensive to buy and repair.

I read recently that the Ford Mustang is the hottest selling sports car in Germany now. Take that BMW and Porsche!!:buttkick:

Hardest thing about smokin' a Harley?

Keeping it lit!

Hildo didn't have any trouble keeping his old Harley lit in the Vedio against that "Yamsukie".:stirthepot: a
