cwhite123174 Posted May 13, 2016 #1 Posted May 13, 2016 I was "cruising" the forum last night and found a post about "secrets" of the RSV. I noticed one about a clock so of course I checked it out. I do have it BUT when I pushed the 2 buttons together, they stuck. Probably a common problem but what can I do so they function smoothly? What can I spray to help that? I also saw a post about a little switch to shut off the daytime running lamps. Not a big interest for me but I thought I would look anyway and I don't see anything. Must have been for different years? Newer? I have a 2004 RSV Midnight.
RedRider Posted May 13, 2016 #2 Posted May 13, 2016 I have never had the dash buttons stick. Not sure what would cause that. Perhaps spray a little contact cleaner in there. As for the running light switch, it is normally a rubber boot next to the 12V outlet in the lower clutch side faring. It is a push button type switch. Do you have the auxiliary lights installed on your bike? RR

XV1100SE Posted May 13, 2016 #4 Posted May 13, 2016 Depends on how they were wired up. They may have put the switch somewhere else or wired without the switch. The switch is there in case a State doesn't allow them to be on at certain times. I have mine wired so they are "always on" but with a switch (toggle) in the location (backside of the fairing beside the aux power plug).
cwhite123174 Posted May 13, 2016 Author #5 Posted May 13, 2016 Ahhh... It's OK. I will deal with not having it. With this being a Midnight I would have thought it was there but again, it doesn't matter to me. The more light from the front... The better in my opinion.
M61A1MECH Posted May 13, 2016 #6 Posted May 13, 2016 The passing lights on the original Royal Stars had a switch on one of the cans for the light, may you have some older ones some one installed, do the go on and off with the high beam / low beam of the head light. Many if not all factory set ups, turn the passing lights off when the high beams go on.

I will check that when I get home this afternoon and post back. [emoji6]
vzuden Posted May 13, 2016 #8 Posted May 13, 2016 I had purchased the factory passing lamps for my RSTD. Unlike the Venture factory lights the RSTD lights have a small toggle switch on one of the lamp housings. I don't see it in your picture but I am using my phone so it may be there and I just can't see it on the small screen.
