and says "This Harley Davidson exhaust system ......" heh... so did HD make them?? They look like the stock ones to me.

ALSO.... one of the clamps is as tight as I can get it, but loose on the pipes. Sounds like the gasket got pushed in, correct? So what are my chances of pulling it out and reusing it? Not sure I can find it locally and I am pretty excited about getting back on the road after changing the rear tire myself (thanks to Freebird and others here!!)! If I have to order them I'll be sitting through the weekend...

I'll call around tomorrow and see if I can fnd some somewhere.

Thanks

Never heard of HD involved in making Yamaha exhaust. Many of us put HD mufflers on in place of the stock mufflers. Myself included. I am not sure if HD mufflers use the stock gasket. I put mine on without checking and they were stigmatized fit. I used aftermarket chrome clamps that are fairly wide in order to cover the header pipe that was exposed due to the HD mufflers not covering all of the header pipe

Somebody has put Harley mufflers on it. The harley mufflers do not use the gaskets. They should tighten up.

OK.... hmmmmmm. Well that explains my post from a few days ago asking about the gaskets. guess there aren't any! I knocked the rust off the pipe, put on some never seize and slid it on... seems the clamp is not tightening. Hmmmm.... that might explain the mystery washers I also posted about. I'll bet the PO used the washers to make up the slack.

Well, I'll slide this one off and take a look at why it isn't tightening. I cant really see ... maybe theres a problem with the clamp itself. Heh... never ends....

I've learned that Harley has made several different styles for their touring bikes. I had bought a set for the '99 and they were just barely louder than the stock mufflers. They had plates and bafflers and you couldn't see through them and they did not have catalytic convertors in either side. The 2005 that I just bought had Harley mufflers on it, still des but I have a set of OEM off a RSTD to replace them, but these Harley mufflers are LOUD. The previous owner said that the are unmodified off a 2015 model. He says that you can see all the way through them. He had three sets of unmodified Harley touring mufflers on the shelf and said that if you looked into them, they were all different. It was news to me. I thought that except for a few years when they put the catalytic converter in the right side muffler, that they were all the same. Apparently not.
