grundle Posted May 9, 2016 #1 Posted May 9, 2016 Howdy all, I have searched and did not find an answer so I'm asking... Just got a 2000 yamaha royal star venture and have found that I have to let the clutch out, what seems to me an awful lot before it engages. Is this normal? G
eusa1 Posted May 9, 2016 #2 Posted May 9, 2016 You should bleed the system and start will all fresh fluid first. should not have too much travel
Freebird Posted May 9, 2016 #3 Posted May 9, 2016 Also, it is possible that somebody has upgraded the clutch. If it has the SkyDoc clutch or a couple of others, the half disc in the clutch is usually removed and that reduces the friction zone and causes what you are describing. So, it may be perfectly normal.
grundle Posted May 9, 2016 Author #4 Posted May 9, 2016 Thank you, I will check with the original owner!
MiCarl Posted May 9, 2016 #5 Posted May 9, 2016 He's not talking about it grabbing early (air in system) or quickly (Skydoc17 upgrade). What he describes sounds normal to me - the friction zone on a Venture is with the lever well away from the grip.
