My presssure washer quit, about 20 minutes after replacing the cracked pump. I pulled the plug and it didn't have much / any compression, so I figured it was bad, but took it apart just to see what happened, and the cam gear had broken. The odd thing is that the cam gear, along with the camshaft, is plastic. Even the lobes. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

Just fixxed one just like it. The lobe was broke off. Those engines have a compression release built into the cam in order to lower compression to make it easier to start. Then centrifical force takes it out of play when it starts. They dont make them like they used to.
