Lug Nut Posted May 10, 2016 Author #26 Posted May 10, 2016 Not having to worry about that spring is a BIG relief. My mechanic buddy said we could weld something to the bearing to pull it out with a slide hammer (has done before on Harleys). Install we will try to make something to push with equal force. Love this site and roadstarclinic.com......so much info....
rbig1 Posted May 10, 2016 #27 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Well you brake the outer bearing and remove the balls. Then lube up the gear put a weld across the bearing when it starts to cool should just pull off by hand. Then have a frydaddy with cooking oil in it hang bearing in oil making sure its not touching bottom. Cook for three min should just slip right on but you have to be quick. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row. When bearing cools it don't move. My biggest question is if bearing comes out with gear alone put on before reassemble. If it wont go in case put in dri-ice then assemble. Done this a million times on equipment. WELL after looking at the pics again looks like the only way to do this in the case you might not want to do. Edited May 10, 2016 by rbig1

Lug Nut Posted May 26, 2016 Author #34 Posted May 26, 2016 Got the nut off easy as pie....BUT I noticed a chunk/dent in the edge of the nut....so I'll order another one now....

Lug Nut Posted May 27, 2016 Author #36 Posted May 27, 2016 10 minutes to remove bearing in the bike...no need to pull the engine. Came out easy, tapped back in.....now just buttoning everything back up....I took pictures...will post later
Lug Nut Posted May 27, 2016 Author #37 Posted May 27, 2016 http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq14/sbojrab/Mobile%20Uploads/20160527_102826_zpsp7mkx2jr.jpg[/url Welded nuts on face of bearing, threaded in some long bolts http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq14/sbojrab/Mobile%20Uploads/20160527_103042_zpsrdv693p5.jpg Used small puller to gently remove bearing. I did break loose the case bolts BUT this thing came out so easy not sure if you would have to do that http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq14/sbojrab/Mobile%20Uploads/20160527_103629_zpsj7ndt1mc.jpg Gently tapped back in with a hammer, used side of bearing puller for this, gently all the way around. Did not freeze the new bearing and no grease applied....went in nice and even. http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq14/sbojrab/Mobile%20Uploads/20160527_104532_zps7nexleme.jpg All put in....not a bad job at all of you have a welder and a puller.
