After giving Tip a LOVING hug, I would calmly walk into the garage, give Tweeks a hug too and,, then in the quietness of the garage I would :yikes::smash2::confused24::doh::buttkick::smash2::sick::shock3::headache::mad::(:8::sign67:.. I would then pull the little green New Testament from Tweeks tank bag and read 1st Corinthians Chapter 13 - The Love Chapter,, then I would calmly walk back into the house and say: Tip,,, is there a particular reason why your thinking like that? Then if Tip said something like: Puc, I just dont feel safe on a bike anymore - its just something inside me.. I would then walk back to garage, a little,, gaze over allll the memory stickers that adorn Tweeks pretty fiberglass - I would calmly read all the names of people we had met along lifes travels together and then it would occur to me - we did allllll that together and realize that we could do the same thing in a pretty little convertible..

Then I would walk back in the house and start my typical negotiations (you can find instructions for doing so in your copy of our Man's Club Manual). I would then tell Tip that the last thing I would want for her is to feel unsafe and that it's a big part of my job to protect her and make sure her feelings are protected. We would discuss types of convertibles and have an agreement between us that if we did it - we would get something that we would enjoy together.

:lightbulb:At the conclusion of said negotiations I would add a byline, something along the line of getting another smaller bike that I could putter with during the times I just need to putter.. Something along the lines of one of the newer V-Maxes, an R1, another old Harley or even a 42 Indian Chief - MAN'S GOTTA DO WHAT A MAN'S GOTTA DO :big-grin-emoticon:

Who says you have to trade one for the other......Jan's car is at 175K and coughing along. I found a used Toyota Solara convertible for a fair price.

We've gone a couple of times while it still cold on the bike but great in the car. It gets cold......put up the top.

The bike isn't going anywhere without me on it!

Yea, but, I can't tow a trailer with the trike on it with a little car...

Sure Puc, sure, go Biblical on me! Yes I am very Familiar with 1 Cor:13 but there's instructions in there for her too... No, she doesn't feel unsafe on the trike, or no more unsafe with me driving than she does in a cage!

Worst case scenario I sell the trike to buy the car, and finally fix Goldie once and for all!! I'm suppose to pick up the engine from PCW racing very soon!

I still have my 83, but when Linda and I had the talk about her safety comfort level on the bike, we talked about options and we ended up with two Miatas. We have absolutely had a blast with them and to be honest, at this point in my life I am not that comfortable on the bike either. I may be giving my 83 to my son, who has an 86 that he has never gotten running right and my grandson also has an 83.

I have ridden a little solo, but I really miss hearing her thru the intercom. But, the last thing I ever want to do is hurt her on the bike.

Other option...fix the 1st Gen, sell it, and keep the trike

I'm not as lucky as some, I no longer have a wife and miss her a bunch, but I personally don't feel real comfortable on a two wheeler any longer. An old age thing.:backinmyday: 10 years ago I was running all over town on the scoot. Not any more. Creature comforts are more important the older I get. However, I'm going to give a trike some attention this summer. If that doesn't work out there's gonna be a lot of Ventures up on the block. :mo money:

I'm just wondering if this is MY fault.. I remember having lunch with you guys a week or so ago an mentioning a Miata might be in my future when I can no longer trust myself holding the bike up.. I remember Becky asking about that.. If so I'm sorry...:fiddle:

No Wayne, not your fault, it's the neighbor across from the mailboxes fault!! They got back from Florida and Wally sold his '67 Mustang and bought an early 2000's Mustang convertible. Nice car but I'm NOT into Kelly green cars!! Anyway it was after picking up the mail and he pulled into his driveway and we talked for a while, that on the way shopping she said what she did.

Don't know where we would ever store the car, but if we did get a 2 seater, I would like a Pontiac Solstice. The Saturn is a nicer looking 2 seater, but the Pontiac is a better car...

Of course, if we DID get rid of the trike (No, I'm NOT ready to do that yet!!) I could get rid of our trailer that we use to tow the trike, and I wouldn't need a big car to tow the trailer. Finish Goldie and then trike it...

Women really know how to get the juices and thoughts flowing. I'm sure you'll find away too resolve this issue. Just remember like me you probably have too much time invested in her to make a bad decision. Good luck Bongo.:hurts:
