HStocker Posted April 29, 2016 #1 Posted April 29, 2016 Rebuilt a rear master cylinder for my 83 Venture. Made sure to clean the small hole inside the plastic elbow. Upon reinstallation cannot get fluid to fill it. Filled reservoir no fill. Pulled line to front brake. Still cannot get fluid into master cylinder. Tried pumping but still no fill. Shouldn't gravity be enough to fill up master cylinder?
yamagrl Posted April 29, 2016 #2 Posted April 29, 2016 Have you tried to reverse bleed or force it up from the caliper?
Condor Posted April 30, 2016 #3 Posted April 30, 2016 You might try replacing the hose from the reserve to the plastic elbow. You may be getting junk flaking of inside of the old one and blocking the opening to the master??? Otherwise like yamagrl sez. Reverse bleed...
HStocker Posted April 30, 2016 Author #4 Posted April 30, 2016 Havent tried that yet. Have tried operating brake foot brake with reservoir fulll and didn't have any success in filling master cylinder. Would of thought gravity pressure from reservoir would have been enough. Guess reverse bleeding is next next step.
HStocker Posted April 30, 2016 Author #5 Posted April 30, 2016 I had already replace hose to plastic elbow. Flows real well.
Condor Posted April 30, 2016 #6 Posted April 30, 2016 Another thought comes to mind. Are your brakes still linked?? If they are, have you tried bleeding the left front first and then the rear??
