garyS-NJ Posted April 28, 2016 #1 Posted April 28, 2016 PO let my bike sit for a while and rust up.. couldn't get the hard bags opened or off but eventually with a lot of spray lube and prying (& banging) got them off and open. Key wouldn't rotate all the way to lock the bags closed or actuate the bar to open so the bag covers wouldn't latch closed. Took the lock covers apart (10mm plastic cover, then little rectangle metal cover with small Phillips screws. Clean the rust, spray, lube (used anti-seize), & on assy they work fine unless the etal plate Phillips screws are snuggled tight.. do I assemble with those screws loose? Seems weird..
Yammer Dan Posted April 29, 2016 #2 Posted April 29, 2016 I don't remember leaving them loose. I took a couple sets apart and cleaned and lubed the. Worked fine but its been some time ago.
cowpuc Posted April 29, 2016 #3 Posted April 29, 2016 At one time I had a post in here with pics of cleaning those lock slides up with pics,, cant find it for the life of me.. Anyway, gotta agree with Dan - dont remember leaving the screws loose - sounds to me like you got something a little out of place or something under the slide. I would take it back apart and check it so it, you dont want them slackers falling apart inside and let you down at the wrong time..
bongobobny Posted April 29, 2016 #4 Posted April 29, 2016 Yah!! Something don't sound right! sounds like there is something warped or bent somewhere! Ya don't want your bags falling apart going down the road...
garyS-NJ Posted June 11, 2016 Author #5 Posted June 11, 2016 I had to take that lock completely apart and reassemble as something had rotated out of alignment..
KIC Posted June 14, 2016 #6 Posted June 14, 2016 If you need any parts, I have a set of 84 bags off one of my parts bikes.
