Lug Nut Posted April 27, 2016 #1 Posted April 27, 2016 I have a 2002 RSV Midnight, came from a 2002 Roadstar...looking at picking up ab1996 Royal Star Tour Classic. I know it's a 1300 V4 but what are the main differences mechanically between it an my 02 RSV? It has 40k miles and in good shape....whatbis a fair price and what is a "steal"?
M61A1MECH Posted April 27, 2016 #2 Posted April 27, 2016 The original Royal Stars that were produced as Royal Stars and not as Ventures, from 1996 to 2001 have the same motor as the Ventures produced from 1999 to 2013 with the exceptions listed below 28 mm carbs , Venture has 32 mm carbs 76 HP, Venture has 97 Not counter balancer, Venture has a counter balancer, No cruise control, no audio system, no fairing That is what come to mind right away
eusa1 Posted April 27, 2016 #3 Posted April 27, 2016 The 96 royals sell for the mid 2k to 3k around here quite often
Lug Nut Posted April 27, 2016 Author #4 Posted April 27, 2016 He is asking $2000 I will try for cheaper....39k miles. .I would be happy around $1500 I think
ToyOdie Posted April 28, 2016 #5 Posted April 28, 2016 The air cleaner is under the tank on the RSTC which makes it harder to clean or change. Also the fuel tank is smaller on the RSTC because the gauge cluster is mounted on it. With the smaller carbs you will get better MPG so range is about the same as the RSV. I bought both of mine (96 and 97) for $2000 each. Check out DarrenGT's threads on what you can do with the older bikes.
