Yammer Dan Posted May 4, 2016 #101 Posted May 4, 2016 I think that 2nd gen was still there...... might have to go look....
Freebird Posted May 4, 2016 Author #102 Posted May 4, 2016 Well I HOPE I am about done with what I thought were the FEW things that I would need for this bike. KuryAkyn longhorn peg mounts are ordered as well as a couple other small things. I think the Russell seat is going to work out but Eileen missed the wraparound Corbin backrest that I had on the '99 and I had a similar Mustang backrest on the Harley. So, I managed to obtain a used Corbin passenger backrest and it is on it's way to Russell to be recovered to match everything else. They do great upholstery work but are pretty proud of their work. It is costing more than I expected it to but it just won't look right otherwise. Nanci from Ace High Leathers has mailed me a sample of the fabric that I had her use to make the Saddlebag lid covers on the '99. I know it's the same pattern but I'm not sure it's the exact same color. Will decided on that after the sample arrives and then decide how to proceed on the bib and lid covers. I want to order another pair of crash bar stiffeners from @Carbon_One at some point. I think that's about it. Oh yea...I need a GPS mount and some drink holders...and.....
SilvrT Posted May 4, 2016 #103 Posted May 4, 2016 hmmmmm.... as I recall Don, you'd said something about not justifying having so much money tied up in a motorcycle to just have it sit around and that was why you sold the Harley. As I continue to read this "saga", I start thinking ... "geeesh, the way he's going, he'll have just about as much money into this Venture by the time he's done" LOL !! :stickpoke: just razzin ya of course coz I'm super envious of the process seeing as I'm only financially able to do such things a little bit at a time and usually behind the warden's back LOLOL Speaking of which, I'm picking up a set of highway pegs for my bike this weekend (unbenownst to her ... hey, it's my money too ). A little here, a little there ... I'd guess I've added a few thousand extra to the Vic since I got it ... and I ain't done yet! Maybe next year we'll have the wherewithal to attend your maintenance day where I'll be able to drool all over that black beauty! Great to see a man excited about his "toys"
Yammer Dan Posted May 4, 2016 #104 Posted May 4, 2016 How long before ya get that list to match mine??
Freebird Posted May 5, 2016 Author #105 Posted May 5, 2016 How long before ya get that list to match mine?? Hey...I've already got a handful of things that weren't on the '99. A couple of things will be a while though. VMax rear and Dyna 3000 are going to have to wait a while. Unless you fall asleep at Maintenance Day.

Great to see a man excited about his "toys" Hey, I know you are razzing me but I tell you, I still have more than $10,000 less tied up in the RSV. It's all good.
Great adVENTURE Posted May 5, 2016 #107 Posted May 5, 2016 Well I HOPE I am about done with what I thought were the FEW things that I would need for this bike. I must see this! If it what I'm thinking, I want
Freebird Posted May 5, 2016 Author #108 Posted May 5, 2016 Here you go. Scroll down to about the middle of the page to see the ones for the RSV and RSTD. There is even a picture there of the silver '99 that I sold to Dan. Nanci does fantastic work. http://www.acehighleathers.com/motorcycle/other-cool-stuff/
Freebird Posted May 5, 2016 Author #109 Posted May 5, 2016 Well, today I got the triple diamond cut fins and dog bones installed as well as the saddlebag hinge inserts. Also got a Dyna 3000 ignition installed. Making progress.
bongobobny Posted May 5, 2016 #110 Posted May 5, 2016 How much of a pain was it to get to the ignition module?? I'm thinking that may be my next modification, maybe a good MD project...
Freebird Posted May 5, 2016 Author #111 Posted May 5, 2016 It's not too bad Bob. You have to pull the battery out and then two bolts to pull the battery box up and move it out of the way. Probably a 30 to 45 minute job.
Yammer Dan Posted May 6, 2016 #112 Posted May 6, 2016 You wanting :think:to trade for a Bushtech hitch??
Freebird Posted May 6, 2016 Author #113 Posted May 6, 2016 Trade WHAT? Actually, I have a hitch coming. Supposed to be here on Maintenance Day.
eusa1 Posted May 6, 2016 #114 Posted May 6, 2016 Great pictures Don, bout time ya got something done !! What took ya so long? ahh the joys of a new bike and making it your own!! Wecome back boss!! Now who can i pick on?? ps. Fix your profile. Your bike don't leak !
Freebird Posted May 6, 2016 Author #115 Posted May 6, 2016 Hey...I fixed the profile an hour or two ago. OOPS....OK...I missed it. It is fixed now.
bongobobny Posted May 6, 2016 #117 Posted May 6, 2016 Darn Dan!! I gave away a Diamond R one for free when I trike'd mine...
Yammer Dan Posted May 6, 2016 #118 Posted May 6, 2016 I don't really need one its just that Bushtech looks strange back there...And if I ever use one it would probally be a regular hitch.
Freebird Posted May 6, 2016 Author #119 Posted May 6, 2016 I don't remember Dan but doesn't the Bushtec pin just bolt on or is it welded? If it bolts on, you should be able to just remove it and install a ball.
Yammer Dan Posted May 6, 2016 #120 Posted May 6, 2016 I don't remember. Haven't looked in a while. I'll check. I was thinking there was a reason it couldn't be changed.
Freebird Posted May 6, 2016 Author #121 Posted May 6, 2016 The pin is probably welded. I don't remember. I remember having one that was welded and another that bolted on. That is probably the one that pin is welded.
cowpuc Posted May 6, 2016 #122 Posted May 6, 2016 Tie wraps and Duct Tape brothers,,, tie wraps and duct tape!!! Oh,, and a really good supply of stickers doesn't hurt either
Flyinfool Posted May 6, 2016 #123 Posted May 6, 2016 Even if it is welded it is still removable, with the right tools.
Yammer Dan Posted May 6, 2016 #124 Posted May 6, 2016 Yeah I got a saw and a BIG hammer!! Had to introduce that thing to the Big Hammer anyway after it threw me and stomped me!! It knows who the Boss is now. And my aches and pains don't let me forget!!
