Lug Nut Posted April 26, 2016 #1 Posted April 26, 2016 I wanted to smooth out the look of my RSV and make it a touch more modern/sleek. I removed the antennas and mounts from the rear. Removed the clear plastic lowers under the fairings and the clear wind deflectors under the ligjt bar. Removed the visors from all the front lights/turn signals and replaced the passing lights with smooth GE Halogen lights and replaced headlight and tailight bulbs with Sylvania Ultra. Really like the look so far. I was wondering how much difference in wind buffeting to experience with the deflectors removed. Waiting on clutch master cylinder rebuild kit so I can ride.....
bongobobny Posted April 26, 2016 #2 Posted April 26, 2016 Not sure on this, but you may end up with more wind and debris in your face. I had one break off a couple of years ago and I sort of remember that being the case...
WildBill1 Posted April 26, 2016 #3 Posted April 26, 2016 Pictures are worth more than a paragraph of words around here. You know the drill by now Lug Nut. Look forward too seeing and verifying all that work.
Ace Posted April 27, 2016 #4 Posted April 27, 2016 With the the flares off the bottom of the fairings and the lowers off it will be not fun riding on the highway, you will get an updraft producing a bad case of baby head....
Lug Nut Posted April 27, 2016 Author #5 Posted April 27, 2016 I will definitely try it UT at 80-90 mph to see the difference. Worst case scenario I can tint the plastic and put it back on.
alwrmcusn Posted April 27, 2016 #6 Posted April 27, 2016 The painted the backsides of my 2009 RSV fairing/wind deflectors black to match the red/black OEM color scheme. No one even notices until I mention it and then they say it really looks and blends in so much better.
Kirby Posted April 28, 2016 #7 Posted April 28, 2016 I took the wind deflectors off the forks and the lower deflectors from the bottom of the fairing last summer and found out real quick that the bike looks great without them but the air turbulence and noise was way too much for me. I put them back on after only a couple hundred miles.
Lug Nut Posted April 30, 2016 Author #8 Posted April 30, 2016 I painted mine black today in case I need to put them back on due to wind turbulence. They look nice in gloss black...
