I have test ridden (basically spent some days playing on em) those cool scoots at our local Harley demo/free Pizza days a number of times and have always been impressed by em. They are sort of a mini-VRod. GOOD performers HP wise and FUN riders!! Really spunky for a 750.. IMHO though, I have a hunch that HD is experiencing the same thing with them that they experienced with the V-Rod and the Harley Buell, that is low sales due to Harley buyers not really seeing that neat little bike as a real Harley BUT - that is just my opinion based on my very limited exposure to the Harley world. Our local HD dealership has finally worn out the little Buells they used on their rider training courses and are now using the smaller version of the 750 (I think they are 500's) exclusively.. Basically, besides during demo days when all the big inch Harleys are being ridden so us regulars gotta ride the 750's if we wanna go play, I have never actually seen a 750 or a 500 on the street..

On the same token though,, I think the design is a very formidable one.. Lots of motorcycle there for the money!! I know if I had one I would ride the wheels off it!!

Concerning the Yamaha Bolt,, sort of the same thing.. It is interesting,, the Bolt started out at around 7 grand for a new one when they were first released. I now have seen em as low as 5 grand for a new left over. Seems to be a tough market for sure.. Shame too cause, IMHO,, that Bolt is also a really neat - well made scoot..

Ya know Wiz ,,, reading all the jibberish I just wrote:scratchchin:,,,, lots of meaningless opinion right there - eh:big-grin-emoticon:... Love me inspite of :Im not listening to ways will ya brother?:fingers-crossed-emo

I thought along the same lines Puc. A smaller version of V Rod which.... Well died in woll HD folks just cant accept new things well it seems. Could you imagine a V-Rod motor in a touring frame? Take say a street glide, and vision a V-Rod motor in it. It would probably be 10" or more narrower, run cooler and be lighter.

Fire up the blacked out engine, send some sound out the blacked out pipes, and get behind the café racer windscreen and go.

Kind of says it all I think.

Road Rods have been around a while now with a few companies making full kits to do the conversion. Like the trikes, I would have already expected HD to expand into the market and make them in-house.

Now for the 500cc & 750cc models; HD wanted to build a "World" bike they could sell in the eastern countries that get taxed hard on big engines or when manufactured out-of-country and figured why not sell them here. Expect some parts-bin engineering on these little bikes over the next few years to see a touring version as well.
