Venture n Dixie Posted April 17, 2016 #1 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Watching an 85 Royale and thinking $750. New tires, brakes, fluids. Some scratches, 35,000 miles, 2 owners, runs good. I'm like Puc, more concerned that it gets me from A to B than winning a beauty pageant. (No offense intended Tweaks! It's the heart that matters.) $80 plane ticket, $50 gas reimbursement to get me to a cheaper airport. $100 gas to get me home. Iron Butt certificate because it's 1064 miles away. PRICELESS! $1000 total YES or NO? Well.... nobody is like Puc except Puc. Poor choose of words but hopefully you get the idea. Never mind. Reserve not met. Guess I'll have to wrench on the 2 in the driveway like the boss told me to do! Edited April 17, 2016 by Venture n Dixie mouth gets me in trouble always
BlueSky Posted April 18, 2016 #2 Posted April 18, 2016 Buying a $750 Venture with the expectation to ride it a thousand miles home is fairly optimistic I would say. There are lots of Gen Is out there if you don't mind traveling.
BlueSky Posted April 18, 2016 #3 Posted April 18, 2016 I bid on a bike on ebay a few years ago. I was high bidder but did not reach the reserve. But, the seller had posted his phone number on the ebay ad somewhere. So, I called and offered what I had entered as the highest bid I would have allowed the auto bid system to go to and after a day or so, the seller took it. I was only a couple hours away so I hooked up my trailer and hauled it home. It was an excellent bike!
Venture n Dixie Posted April 18, 2016 Author #4 Posted April 18, 2016 Would have probably been the straw that broke the bosses back anyway. Thinking about selling what I've got and moving on.
BlueSky Posted April 18, 2016 #5 Posted April 18, 2016 Thinking about selling what I've got and moving on. Seems to be a lot of that going on these days:crying:
Yammer Dan Posted April 18, 2016 #6 Posted April 18, 2016 750?? You can have Brown Sugar for about 5 or 6 times that. See I told the Warden I would try to sell a few....
Venturous Randy Posted April 18, 2016 #7 Posted April 18, 2016 Make sure the serial number is above 1413 or you will be dealing with the 2nd gear issue. Randy
