Anyone know the part number for passing lights on a 2002 RSV (the ones on the lightbar)? I replaced the stock bulb on my Roadstar with a Slivers tar Ultra and it was a noticeable improvement. I found the numbers for silverstar ultra for headlight and brake light allready. Also, to replace the headlight bulb do you just remove from fairing by taking out the lower bolt under the headlight or do you have to split the fairing?

Thanks

If it is the OEM style bulbs, they are a PAR 36 bulb. Which they dont have one of those. Now if yours are like mine and been changed to the type that has an H3 or similar type bulb you may have a shot at it. I just replaced both bulbs in my Victor with a ultra star I think they are called. They are in a sort of orange package.

Lugnut... You don't need to split fairing to replace headlight bulb. Turn bars to one side, reach in and make the change. If you have fat hands, it's not easy. I think I went in from left side with bars to right. Been a year but think that is right.

I have really bright "passing LEDs " and in the real darkness of the night they light up the road perfectly but if I have to turn them off for an oncoming vehicle I went to total darkness with my stock 2nd gen Rsv bulb. I replaced with PIAA supreme while H4 60/55w. Pn 70456

it ia brighter to the oncoming eye but doesn't light up the ground any better.

That said.

I turned the bars to the left. Reached in from the right side with a bright flashlight and replaced the bulb. Had to get help from a real long nose pliers to push the cap back all the way in.

Ps. After you adjust your new bulb take the adjuster know off and throw in your side bag. My first one disappears on rhe freeway. Easy to do. Just look inside and you will see where you have to pull off

As a reminder....you aim the passing lights the way you do the headlight. Distance from a wall, same height. I aim them slightly right so that I don't "blind" on coming drivers and light the edge of the shoulder.

The lens and all is sealed (bonded) to the headlight bucket. There have been some to make it work and I have seen a couple threads around. But basically you have to split the lens off the OEM headlight and figure out how to mount the LED headlight to whats left.

Picture progression; stock, then Wagner BP1210-H4 100/80 from NAPA, now Broview S5 LED.

I ran the Wagner for a couple weeks, stayed a bit worried about the high power draw, still wanted more light! now have installed an H4 LED, BUT not just any LED. We have a winner folks!

The pics don't do it justice this is a major improvement. Possibly the "holy grail" LED we've been waiting for.

One ride so far, I was able to put the bulb in without removing the fairing, um maybe not EASY but got r done. Hint; the instructions aren't super clear, you remove the H4 ring from the new bulb with a slight twist, install just the H4 ring with the factory clips, THEN install the the new bulb into the ring. I will probably pull the fairing front to properly stow and mount the power pack for the LED.

nice cut off, effective but not as harsh "pitch black" as some bulbs make it. I had to adjust the headlight down a bit which gave me a better road view on high as well. White road signs are pretty harsh, bright, in the high beam, but yellow signs are fine.

A pair on flea bay, to my door from California in 5 days, $48 with shipping. Another vender advertised the Broview S5 with a single motorcycle option but shipped a different LED bulb with a fan, I sent that back.

Bonus: the LED is advertised to draw 30 watts. half the stocker on bright.

I hope the 100/80 works for you, but I don’t think the wiring and connectors are large enough to carry the amps needed. I have seen several melt after a few miles.

That is a concern of mine but I did a search just now and found no posts about melted wired wires. I do not have passing lamps which use "about" the same amount of current with the stock bulb as this one? My bike is a G2 that appears to have a metal reflector?

NOTE: see post above, I changed bulbs again to the Broview S5 H4, put about 6K miles on so far with no issues. To my mind this is the answer to the RSV headlight question

bike hasn't moved, dark garage.

I also have an H4 HID kit will plug that in next.....

turns out HID kit provides high beam only but here's the pic.

Please see post # 13 above, I bought and installed a Bro-view LED last night, we have a winner!

Note how they have shielding over the low beam for the cut off. We are looking at the left side of bulb, right side has the same design with perhaps a slightly different shield for "perfect" low beam cut off with raised right edge for "ditch view"

This uses a copper braid heat sink, no fan, fits in fairing.

I got flashed once on the first ride, I lowered the headlight a bit with the knob which actually improved both high and low view, no more "flashes"

Question:

You bought an automotive pair of LED bulbs.

Which one did you install in scoot? Left side or right side. They usually are different pattern...hence my question.

BTW, thank you for the pictures and test results....helps a lot!

I believe they are identical, just like a halogen bulb is the same both sides?

But I'll look at the remaining bulb to see if there are any markings as to left or right ;^)

They do make the left and right headlight housings different and they use different housings and perhaps bulbs for cars (and bikes) in RHD countries like Japan and England.
