Lug Nut Posted April 10, 2016 #1 Posted April 10, 2016 Thinking of getting a nicer looking front wheel. What some good options and I would probably stay with the stock size......
cecdoo Posted April 10, 2016 #2 Posted April 10, 2016 Buy a stock wheel on ebay and have it chromed, its been done and looked pretty cool. Craig
MikeWa Posted April 12, 2016 #3 Posted April 12, 2016 As I recall there are some other front wheels that will fit. I just can't remember which ones. If you search the forum you can probably come up with some options. Mike
BratmanXj Posted April 12, 2016 #4 Posted April 12, 2016 I put a Stratoliner S polished 18" wheel on the front of my bike. Found it on eBay for $200 shipped with the floating front rotors.
BratmanXj Posted April 12, 2016 #6 Posted April 12, 2016 I also went "Darkside" and running an 130/70-18 Michelin Pilot rear on my front.
Lug Nut Posted April 14, 2016 Author #7 Posted April 14, 2016 I put a Stratoliner S polished 18" wheel on the front of my bike. Found it on eBay for $200 shipped with the floating front rotors. That is a good looking and cheap option....win win. Lol......I hated the idea of spending $1200+ on an aftermarket wheel and rotor.
Rafterd Posted January 23, 2017 #8 Posted January 23, 2017 I put a Stratoliner S polished 18" wheel on the front of my bike. Found it on eBay for $200 shipped with the floating front rotors. What kind of modifications were required, and how about the handling? thanks Bill
BratmanXj Posted January 23, 2017 #9 Posted January 23, 2017 Handling - I purchased the bike with a well worn Bridgestone 150 width front tire and the bike handled like a Mack truck... I went to a new 130 width on the 18" wheel (stock Stratoliner size mentioned above) and it lightened the steering up considerably. I don't know if it is any better than the factory rim with a 130-16" but it definitely looks better! Modifications (none really) - I purchased new wheel bearings, center spacer, axle spacers directly from the RSV parts catalog; chrome bolts from Ace Hardware to mount the rotors and it fit right in with the Road Star Warrior big brake kit I already had fitted to the bike on the factory front axle.
Rafterd Posted January 24, 2017 #10 Posted January 24, 2017 The only wheels I can find have no rotors. Wonder if my rotors will fit those wheels? Bill
BratmanXj Posted January 24, 2017 #11 Posted January 24, 2017 I did measure my OEM rotors vs the Stratoliner rotors and they are they appear to be interchangeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use the RSV rotors, but I was able to upgrade mine CHEAP to full floating rotors from the Strat. Note that the RSV has that weight in the big chrome cover and the Strat has a weight in the little cover shown in my photo. I don't think anyone here ever gave a good reason to the weight, I think it's to slightly counteract the driveshaft torque...but many of us have removed them.
Rafterd Posted January 24, 2017 #12 Posted January 24, 2017 Ok, I'm gonna do it. Thank you for the info. Bill
sho_greg Posted February 7, 2017 #13 Posted February 7, 2017 The only wheels I can find have no rotors. Wonder if my rotors will fit those wheels? Bill Have this wheel on my bike- used my venture rotors and calipers- no problems...
