GAWildKat Posted April 8, 2016 #1 Posted April 8, 2016 Yesterday I got a message I've dreaded for a while now. We have a local friend that's kinda a surrogate Dad to us and has been for years that got the worst news a parent can get. His son who has had drug and alcohol problems since his teens was found dead behind his favorite bar yesterday morning in Seatac Washington. Though I have never met the son I empathize with the loss. Addiction is brutal and cruel both to the addicted and their loved ones. Our friend had a birthday Wed, and sadly his birthday present was losing his only son. Tomorrow he flies to Washington to make arrangements. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
JDaniel Posted April 8, 2016 #3 Posted April 8, 2016 Prayers for the family. I recently had a high school classmate loose her 28 year old son to drugs.
cowpuc Posted April 8, 2016 #4 Posted April 8, 2016 Wow Kat,, don't know what to say about this horrible new's other than we are thinking of and praying for all of you sister! Our heart felt condolences to all involved.. While the snow flies here in Michigan I heard about my friend, Who's heart is breaking on this day when her brother's life did end. Her tears are felt up in the North and all across our land, I wish that I could be with her now to lend a helping hand. On days like this our hearts cry out for mercy from above, we lean on our Redeemer for His tenderness and love. We may not fully understand why days like this are so, but I can still be thankful that God's grace extends below. Puc
ragtop69gs Posted April 9, 2016 #5 Posted April 9, 2016 Always a tragic , senseless loss. Addiction is a difficult thing to beat, even for the strong willed soul. Please pass along our condolences. My wife volunteers at local FA and recovery meetings and it seems that she comes home with this same sad story all to often.
GAWildKat Posted April 9, 2016 Author #6 Posted April 9, 2016 Howard himself is 20+yrs sober. I grew up around addiction in my own family. Though all my living relatives that had been addicted are clean now, they always treated it like it was a big joke. They quit so no big deal, they got over it. I've heard a lot about our friend's son over the yrs. Plenty on his heroin addiction and exploits. It wasn't unexpected to get the news. It's abt the timing. Our friend turned 58 Wed, he got the call thurs morning.
Zzyzx Posted April 9, 2016 #7 Posted April 9, 2016 Sorry for the sad news Kat. Thoughts and prayers up and out for everyone.
Yammer Dan Posted April 9, 2016 #8 Posted April 9, 2016 Prayers for the family. I have a son who is from one place to another. Never know where he is til he calls.
