MikeWa Posted April 5, 2016 #1 Posted April 5, 2016 I watched the Country Music Awards last night. What a disappointment. Most of the music sounded like wan-a-be rappers. Even showing sign with their hands. In my opinion when you try to rap country music you get yuk. There were a couple that were ok but the country I grew up with is long gone. What is your opinion? Mike
Larry1963 Posted April 5, 2016 #2 Posted April 5, 2016 When I seen the title CMA I thought you had a post about Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) LOL

slowrollwv Posted April 5, 2016 #5 Posted April 5, 2016 Country music today "SUX" What ever happened to the sounds of the Mighty Merle, Clint Black, George Straight, Vince Gill and Alabama??? And don't forget Mr.Jones
Zzyzx Posted April 5, 2016 #6 Posted April 5, 2016 And don't forget Mr.Jones For Sure, May he Rest in Peace
midnightventure Posted April 5, 2016 #7 Posted April 5, 2016 Country isn't country anymore but then they gave the most awards to Chris Stapleton who sounds pretty country to me. The rapping country bothers me too. That's why my mp3 players are loaded with old country and old rock. Well maybe some Celtic and Native American mixed in there too.
videoarizona Posted April 5, 2016 #8 Posted April 5, 2016 Agreed. Though I'm not a huge fan of country music, I do like the older songs and singers. Wonder when the pendulum will swing back to good ole country music??
Guest divey Posted April 5, 2016 #9 Posted April 5, 2016 I agree Mike. A bit too much rap. But Billy Gibbons and Keith Urban sure cranked one out. Doug
cowpuc Posted April 5, 2016 #10 Posted April 5, 2016 Right there with ya Mike,,, personally I like the old non-rappin country music myself like these two are singin... Even the backup singer found at 1.29 in this song is far superior to the modern country rap singers, IMHO of course..
Motiv Posted April 5, 2016 #11 Posted April 5, 2016 There is some good "new" country out there just not on the radio so much. I am encouraged that things will turn around cause of all the awards Chris got. I like Zac Brown a lot but even his last offering was very diverse. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
alwrmcusn Posted April 5, 2016 #12 Posted April 5, 2016 There is no "country" music anymore. The only difference in Rock/rap/hip hop/country is that there is no difference!
Larry1963 Posted April 5, 2016 #13 Posted April 5, 2016 Very good, work on Amazing Grace and come over to South GA and so some singing for us.

Du-Rron Posted April 5, 2016 #16 Posted April 5, 2016 Carrie Underwood could sing a phonebook to me and I would be happy. Miranda Lambert looks like a fun bad girl especially singing ZZTOP.

Mike Thats just it your old country that you and I grew up with, it was gone. Gone wife, gone job, gone money, gone dog, gone fishin, gone sex, gone drinking and gone reason to breathe. Not necessarly in that order.
bongobobny Posted April 5, 2016 #18 Posted April 5, 2016 Yeah, I can remember back in the 60's my Father and Uncle saying the same thing about Country Music, and how Hank Snow was the best...

Mike Merle Haggard, Country Music Legend, Dies at 79 Country legend Merle Haggard, often called “the Poet of the Common Man,” whose music reflected his hardscrabble roots and hard-living ways as well as a tenderness that made him a revered songwriter, has died at his home near Redding, Calif. He was 79. Rest in Peace Mighty Merle Rest in Peace!
slowrollwv Posted April 6, 2016 #22 Posted April 6, 2016 So sad that we lost another legend. He was to perform in Hagerstown Md. in June.
