Godlover Posted April 3, 2016 #1 Posted April 3, 2016 I had the opportunity to get a deal on a 2011 Spyder. I've been looking at then for awhile and this one came up. Picking it up tomorrow. Original owner who babied it.
cowpuc Posted April 3, 2016 #2 Posted April 3, 2016 WOW ZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW,,, she's a beauty Godlover!!! CONGRATS in every way brother!! ,,, looking closer seems I see something missing,,, did ya get a shift lever with her? Might be wrong but I am thinking Marcarls Spydeee has a shifter - yours must be an automatic?
BlueSky Posted April 3, 2016 #3 Posted April 3, 2016 That looks really nice! A trike is the only bike I could get my wife to ride on the back with me.
Marcarl Posted April 3, 2016 #5 Posted April 3, 2016 Good looking machine, hope you all enjoy it. Couple of things to put under your hat: If you feel the belt vibrate, you can try to adjust the tension. What is in the manual is too tight and causes bearing wear in the rear wheel and the engine. So it's set somewhat loser, but that might give problems at certain speeds. The answer to that is an idler pulley halfway down the belt to take up slack. Called a 'smooth spyder', but I built my own,,, way cheaper. The other is alignment. If you get a tire vibration, or it won't track straight on it's own, the alignment will most likely need more toe-in. Played with that one for a year before I got it right. Scrap the Kenda tires, I went with Kumo instead. Same size on the front but a wee bit narrower on the rear.
Gray Ghost Posted April 9, 2016 #6 Posted April 9, 2016 Agree with Marcarl on the vibration and alignment issues. I have a 2013, replaced the sway bar with one a bit beefier which helped with stability. Alignment on those things is a huge issue though. To get good tracking the bike needs to be aligned with the rear wheel and over 90% of them came out of the factory with alignment issues. I have the laser alignment setup and I have seen bikes with just about every combination of out of whack. Once they are dialed in they will roll down the highway quite easily.
