High idle when hot!

The 87 idles good till it gets up to operating temp. Then in traffic the idle climbs to 2000, 2500, even up to 3 grand if I'm in traffic long! Any ideas?

start looking for vacum leaks at the bottom of the carbs and all the lines that would be my first move

Did you try turning the idle screw? I know this sounds stupid but sometimes the easy things are forgotten.

When syncing the carbs you're supposed to set the idle screw when engine is up to operating temp. I'd think about a carb sync.

As the Muffinman said, search for Vacuum Leak

Check the Rubber Caps, on the Manifold vaccume ports.

They might be cracked and rotted.

Also, the Vaccum Hose, from the Lft Fwd, carb that goes up to the " Barro Sensor "

But here is the real question -- I f the Carb boots are cracked, what is the solution? Can you coat them with something? or?

If you do find the manafolds are the culprit you can spray them with Plasti-Dip from Home Depot. Two of three coats and you won't be able to see the crack.... However... I think I just read some where on the board where they manafolds have a liner that will keep any crack from going all the way thru. I think...

somewhere in the distant , foggy past, someone on here, said the manifold "boots", are aluminum ,with a rubber coating. cracks can't go all the way through.
