Huked Posted March 20, 2016 #1 Posted March 20, 2016 I know I should change with a new one, But something went wrong with the ones I ordered. I need to move and got to get the bike back up and running to move it. If I use some good high temp black anyone think I have a chance of getting it sealed well? the gaskets look good still. thanks.
Marcarl Posted March 20, 2016 #2 Posted March 20, 2016 You can reuse them, but you run the risk, high risk, of having coolant bleed into the oil and ruining the whole engine. There just is too much pressure in the cylinders for goop to hold. And then there is heat and pressure from the coolant side, all the while during running, even when the piston is on the intake stroke and puts the cylinder under vacuum. Best to find a way to trailer it.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted March 21, 2016 #3 Posted March 21, 2016 You CAN reuse them but are you keeping the bike or selling it of out of town? it will likely get you to where you gotta go but be prepared to tear it all down again in not too distant future. an old saying comes to mind.... pay me now or pay me more later :2cents: +1 cent........... I am Canadian I don't have pennies so take my 5 cents worth.
Huked Posted March 21, 2016 Author #4 Posted March 21, 2016 Sorry I keep putting my brain on hold when I post I ment the valve cover gasket not the head gasket.
