Lug Nut Posted March 17, 2016 #1 Posted March 17, 2016 Have an aftermarket amp and speakers with PAC converter tied into stock cassette and controller system (PO had this done). When using g the radio or the AUX playing music via auxillary cable from my phone I noticed something for the first time. I was on the higjway around many semis and when playing either the radio or AUX ibwould get CB transmissions for just a second....and even weirder was thatvibturned the volume all the way down AND switched from cassette to aux to cb to radio and still got the VERY LOUD CB transmissions intermittently. Any input on this? I guess I will play with the squelch abd other CB settings.
alwrmcusn Posted March 19, 2016 #2 Posted March 19, 2016 Not sure if this would help but the wiring inside the fairing seems to be a common problem on the RSV's. The audio system on my 2009 RSV has been the only thing that has been problematic. It would go to "CB" and stay there. It would go to maximum volume and stay there. It would not turn off no matter what I did until the key was turned off. It would go to "FM" at maximum volume, with "CB" cutting in when a signal was received and the volume could not be lowered. All I could do was put up with it till I turned it off at the ignition. Those things were random, not all the time. I took it back to the dealer about 3-4 times and of course they could never duplicate the problem. I finally was able to get it to them when it happened so they could check it. They said they found bad connections. It worked for about two weeks and started up again. More trips to the dealer, finally they replaced the control head. It worked great for about a month and the problems returned. They said they found more bad connections. Yamaha must have a "bad connection" installation point on the assembly line! Bottom line....when the bike was triked, the installer found a mass of corroded connections when he was doing the CB/trunk move. He cleaned and resoldered them and (knock on wood), it's been trouble free ever since. Four years later, still no problems.
ragtop69gs Posted March 19, 2016 #3 Posted March 19, 2016 Probably what you are experiencing is caused by truckers using a linear power amp on their CB's. A strong enough linear will push the signal thru your speakers even when your system is off. If that's the case then there's nothing wrong with your system and there's not much you can do about it. We used to have the same thing happen only it came over our TV at home, the cause was a neighbor a few streets over using his base station with the power cranked way up. He usually only did this after midnight so most neighbors never noticed.
Lug Nut Posted March 19, 2016 Author #4 Posted March 19, 2016 I picked up my bike and turned off the CB.....problem solved
