Eck Posted March 15, 2016 #1 Posted March 15, 2016 Anyone else have the problem with the cheap fishing line breaking all the time? I think I'm going to quit using these beaded seat covers. This is the second one I have purchased (plastic beads, not wood) and this particular seat pad I have repaired it 4 or 5 times now using nylon thread. I fix it in one place and another place breaks apart a week or so later.. I had the same problem with my last beaded seat pad which was wooden beads. I sure wish they made them using materials that can withstand some basic usage in place of that cheap fishing line crap they use.
M61A1MECH Posted March 15, 2016 #2 Posted March 15, 2016 Eck, what about that flat woven lacing cord the aircraft / military use for binding wire harnesses ? It is really tough in a static application, not sure I have ever used it for a dynamic application like your beaded seat. Here is a link, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/BreydenLacingTapes.php?clickkey=545286

Here is a link, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/BreydenLacingTapes.php?clickkey=545286 I appreciate the link and suggestion @M61A1MECH, but I meant to imply in my posting above that the "fishing string" that "THEY" use to manufacture these beaded seat pads is pretty darn cheap string. The repairs that I have done with a super strong nylon cord have not ever broke. It is ALWAYS that cheap clear fishing string junk they use. It breaks in different places after I make a repair. Heck, I don't want to "re-sew" the entire beaded seat pad. Man that would be a job. After 34 plus years in the aviation arena, I just happen to have some of that Aircraft cord your talking about. It would work well fro repairs also.
Prairiehammer Posted March 16, 2016 #4 Posted March 16, 2016 What brand is your beaded seat cover? I've had my BeadRider for six years and perhaps 40,000 miles on two different Ventures. It even went for a long tumble down the median while attached to the RoadSofa when we were wrecked on the 1990. Other than the elastic cord losing it's "stretch", I have never had any problem with mine. If your beaded seat cover is made by BeadRider and you are the original buyer, they will repair it for $20.
