scooter45 Posted March 14, 2016 #1 Posted March 14, 2016 What is going on with Star Motorcycles? https://rideastar.starmotorcycles.com/?mm_campaign=5B846950D6327CD05A748A23450AEE7E&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=New+-+Motorcycle+-+Star&utm_term=star+motorcycle+Exact&category=mc+star&keyword=star%20motorcycle&gclid=Cj0KEQjwwpm3BRDuh5awn4qJpLwBEiQAATTAQTT056QeStqcbYBuUBChKM7tsS2Qvh4Kk1l1Le0FI-EaAqlT8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds Only 3 bikes this year!!
Freebird Posted March 14, 2016 #2 Posted March 14, 2016 It almost looks like Yamaha is killing the Star Motorcycles brand. If you actually just enter http://www.starmotorcycles.com in the browser, it takes you to the Yamaha site where it used to take you to an actual Star Motorcycles site. There they still show some other models like the V Stars and etc. It says a lot though that even now, they are still advertising discontinued models as old as 2014. They must of had some serious over production issues. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/street-motorcycle/models/lineup/street-motorcycle#cruiser-touring
Freebird Posted March 14, 2016 #3 Posted March 14, 2016 Here's some more. Their announcement for the 2016 Star Line. Most of these bikes are not on the Star Website though. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorsports/news/article/2059/yamaha-introduces-the-balance-of-its-2016-star-cruiser-model-lineup Apparently this is their top of the line touring bike now. Pretty sad really. Nice bike but certainly not in the same class as the Venture. That is only about $400.00 less than I paid for my brand new RSV in 1999. At the top of the V Star lineup is the V Star 1300 Deluxe, a fully-loaded V-twin bagger with a fairing, integrated dash, modern audio system with GPS, and locking hard bags. For 2016, the V Star 1300 Deluxe is offered in Charcoal Silver with an MSRP of $14,090. It will be available in dealerships beginning in January.
M61A1MECH Posted March 14, 2016 #4 Posted March 14, 2016 Yeah Yamaha has dropped the STAR name as a product line, they will continue to brand certain models as STAR but they will be sold under the Yamaha name instead of STAR name. There cruiser line showing was nearly non-existent at Bikeweek in Daytona last week. I do not know what the are thinking, the only bikes they have now that even remotely interests me are the FJR and V-Max, they can keep everything else as far as I am concerned.
Venture n Dixie Posted March 14, 2016 #5 Posted March 14, 2016 There cruiser line showing was nearly non-existent at Bikeweek in Daytona last week. Their cruiser link in the last page Freebird posted is non existent also! http://Star cruiser model lineup for 2016.
djh3 Posted March 15, 2016 #6 Posted March 15, 2016 You know I didnt even see Yamaha's site until we were on the road and heading home. It was way over past most everything. The food area, Harley and Victory, Indian and some sort of Boss Hoss knock off thing. I dont know man, they must have some marketing Guru that knows everything. Dual sports appear to be the "in thing" now. I think the new Indian they just came out with may fill a gap they had. I forget what model they are calling it, but basically it looks to battle the street glide I think. Fairing, bags and cruise and nice amenities. No fringe crap, just the big honkin fender in front. LOL For the most part I think Yamaha is out of the touring market.
