Prairiehammer Posted March 20, 2016 #26 Posted March 20, 2016 Well, I pulled the board from the class control unit, and re-soldered all the connections, Boom! Working air system. The front will only pump up to about 21-23 psi though. I stopped the rear at 80psi. Everything seems to work, auto to manual, front/rear,etc. Just wondering about the front pressure. The front air pressure in AUTO mode should not exceed 17 psi. It may go a bit higher in MANUAL mode, but 21-23 psi is PLENTY (TOO much) for the front. Per the manual:
Flyinfool Posted March 20, 2016 #27 Posted March 20, 2016 The class stopped because the front pressure was maxed out. IIRC the front pressure is 7-21 lbs and the rear is 7-85 lbs. So the front was maxed out and the rear still had a bit to go. Edit; Dang typed to slow again.................
Zippy69 Posted March 21, 2016 Author #28 Posted March 21, 2016 Thanks guys, looks like everything is working just like it is supposed to. I was wondering if anyone has put power to the class while the ignition is on, not just acc.
bongobobny Posted March 26, 2016 #29 Posted March 26, 2016 The REASON why the front shocks are a lower pressure is because the fork seals can not tolerate higher pressures, as well as higher pressures are not needed with the front suspension. The rear, on the other hand is a typical air shock and is a self contained unit... Yamaha was concerned about the safety of operation when they designed the system. They feel adjusting the suspension while on the fly is dangerous and could very well cause an accident. I agree with Yamaha!
Yammer Dan Posted March 26, 2016 #30 Posted March 26, 2016 Too much air in that front will cause you a lot more problems.
Zippy69 Posted March 26, 2016 Author #31 Posted March 26, 2016 We took our first ride today in the North Georgia mountains. Bike ran great, still needs the carbs cleaned, but was a lot of fun. Played with the air pressure in the rear with the Warden on the back, seems @ 45-55psi is a good setting. Nice and smooth. All in all, it was a 6 hour ride up and back. She said she loved it and wants to go again next weekend.
