What's everyone think of this machine?

It's a cool concept and thought it might be a good option for my wife. I test rode one last summer and have to say that I did not like it. The 3 wheeled thing was weird for me and maybe I'm partial to the RSV, but it just didn't feel right.

this was one of the items on the focus group study

they want to set it up for both, street rod and options for up right riding, cruising, and tour packages., full stereo, adjustable windsheilds, removable saddlebags, chrome packages,

and yes, most people that looked at it, thought there wifes would enjoy riding it. safer, for the lady riders (weather conditions). with or with out colored keyed body covers

 

No options for pulling trailer guys

Cool, but maybe sometime in the future when I can't handle a real two wheeled motorcycle, I'd consider one-----------BUT that time is WAY off in the future.

 

I never rule anything out. Life's too short.

I got on one in Daytona this year with the thought of a test drive "Hmm neat looking machine" :cool10::cool10::cool10:

 

After getting my feet into position (Sport Bike Position) I immediately had to throw myself off the bike and lay on the ground till the cramps and PAIN eased up in my right hip.:no-no-no::no-no-no::no-no-no::no-no-no::no-no-no::no-no-no:

 

Great looking machine but not build for a FOG (Fat Old Guy) with arthritis:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:.

It makes more sense than conventional trikes in theory, most of your stopping power is in the front and the front controls what direction the vehicle goes. So the most traction should be in front. So if you are only going to have three wheels, two should be in front.

 

Not comfortable though.. and it doesn't lean.. When I can't handle two wheels I still will want something that will lean. If no one makes one, I go back to a cage.

 

Of course there is always the Vespa's MP3 scooter.

Last post didn't work, I'll try again.

 

I sat across from one of these at the motorcycle show last weekend. I must have watched the video a million times. We decided it looks and rides like a snowmobile. Is it the human body's natural reaction to lean away from the turn. It seems to have a huge turn radius. I doubt it would get around easily in traffic. And, $16000 - $19000. It had a lot of accessories also - mostly clothing and luggage with the Can-Am logo - and very expensive.

 

Let's see - 1 post. 4 or 5 replies. All mostly negative. I bet these are going to be selling cheap in the near future and parts will be rare to find. Maybe a collector's item, though.

I would have to buy the kit car version, so I can drive it on public highways.

Saw one yesterday heading north through Carson. Lady riding it behind her husband.

When I saw it in the ads I thought it was goofy, but seeing it being ridden is completely different. Not bad.

 

 

Oh, btw kite, Ariel is looking to make a bike now. :D

I got to ride one of these today for about an hour. Sits like a sport to sport tour bike. Rotax motor has 106hp. It will flat out scream. 5 speed trans with clutch. Steers like a 4 wheeler on the street. Felt strange twisting bars around corners. Went down a gravel area and felt very stable. Pulled off the road to wait for other riders. Gravel and ruts that would have flipped a bike were no problems. Reverse is COOL!! I would like it as a second bike. It is not currently a touring machine. Windscreen is low, ride position is agressive. Front trunk is big. Also has a 12VDC connector. The one factory representative was an obnoxious S.O.B. and I ended up leaving without taking any pictures. It really was a shame. He ruined an excellent experience.

We saw these and some 4 wheel street quads at Sturgis last year...pretty cool to see them running around..

 

I had the idea of a reverse style trike about 5 years ago. I was talking to a freind, who still owns an old Yamaha 3 wheeler ATV. We were talking about the differences between 3 and 4 tires on the dirt, and I suggested 2 in the front and 1 in the back. He looked at me like I was from Mars. I told him that my idea was for a larger, bigger, street capable dual sport reverse style trike, one that would handle dirt, but be street legal too. I did not think of it in terms of a sport bike. I was thinking about the adventure tourers that are getting older, and may need to have a machine that is stable, but nimble and good in the dirt, mud, or sand, but could also handle some street duty too.

 

Hmmm...I wonder if Can-Am was listening.

We saw these runnning around Sturgis last August...I stopped in at the booth, and was talking to the rep...he was showing me all the goodies, but we couldnt ride one. I asked him how much? I nearly choked when he said $45,000 to $50,000 depending on options!

Makes the Can-Am seem cheap by comparison.

 

I too was miffed at a rep one time, this was at the Triumph demo rides in Sturgis 2006. The Rocket III was still very new, and I wanted to ride one. But the dick-heads running the operation just made me want to puke. I thought, if these folks are this arrogant BEFORE they get my money, just how bad would it be AFTER they got my money??? No thanks...I wanted to like the Triumph machines...but with personnel like that? No way.
