sho_greg Posted February 25, 2016 #1 Posted February 25, 2016 Is carburetor drain plug leakage a common problem? I have a leak on my left side front carb... It is a drip.. drip... drip... I'm no carb expert- not even a carb novice.. It looks like it is coming from the drain unless it is leaking from above to that point... Is it pretty easy to tighten the screw- is it a phillips? any tips? What size is the Oring..? Thanks for any help!! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160202_121433.jpg
Ace Posted February 25, 2016 #2 Posted February 25, 2016 Pretty easy to tighten the drain screw, it is an allen head screw. No o-ring on the drain screw, it is a tapered brass that fits up against a machined "seat" in the float bowl. Be sure not to over tighten as it is only aluminum the screw tightens against
MiCarl Posted February 25, 2016 #3 Posted February 25, 2016 Unless someone has messed with the screw lately it's unlikely to be leaking. More likely it's coming from above and it drips off there because it is the low point.
