Fuel Gauge Flashing on the left--

Have an issue- my fuel gauge is flashing on the left side of the gauge. I bought a new sending unit and installed it- it did not come with a new float and I had to reuse the contacts that go with the float action. I sprayed some contact cleaner on the contacts before reinstalling.. Sadly I still have the same fault.. Any thoughts?

Does it continually flash? The fuel gage is used as a trouble shooting tool when it flashes. I think it flashes to help trouble shoot two things, cruise control and the amount of fuel in the tank. If you go to the back of the service manual it lists the codes which causes the bar graft to flash. See if amount of flashes match the trouble shooting guide. Let us know what you find.

It does the 8 time flash then one bar on the left.. Bought a brand new sending unit and installed but no help- unless its the contacts that I had to reuse..

Like you were told above, the gauge is one of the self test systems on this bike. Read the tech manual.
