I can vouch that Medicare WILL pay medical costs from a motorcycle accident here in Michigan. While not a serious accident, last spring I dumped my bike on a slow speed turn in a parking lot. Wife on back was not holding on and fell off breaking her shoulder. ER costs of over $2500, Dr. visits, and a series of rehab sessions were all covered.......:happy34: I have Progressive Insurance and don't pay extra for medical payments as I was told my Medicare policy would cover any accidental injuries and so far, that has been true. I do have a medicare advantage plan which may be a little more liberal than the conventional medicare policy.

Thanks Dave for sharing. I know I am covered with what I have now for sure. Still waiting for response back from insurance today. Just don't want others to think they are insured and are not like I was told I wasn't and then maybe I was.

OK, this is what I just received from my Allstate Insurance agent.

I am covered under this policy but was not under Progressive because they failed to tell me I needed it. Again, if you have questions, call your agent. This was my coverage that was set up by an agent that sells different insurance and only sells Progressive for Motorcycles. Remember the reason I left Progressive was because of the cost, not because they did anything wrong.

Better to know ahead of time if you have what you think you have.

AGENT:

Medicare does not pay primary on medical bills from vehicle accidents (car or motorcycle) and will only pay supplemental if you have primary medical coverage through your motorcycle policy or through another health care carrier that specifically has medical coverage for injuries from motorcycle accidents in the policy. We have had policyholders who did not have this specific coverage in the plans purchased through Obamacare or received through their employer, but did not become aware of this until after they were injured.

The Medical payments option you have chosen on your motorcycle policy provides protection for reasonable and necessary medical expenses or funeral expenses incurred as a result of bodily injury sustained by you or anyone on your motorcycle in a covered accident up to your chosen amount of $50,000.

The Collision and Comprehensive coverage pays for the damage on your bike. Collision pays for damage to your bike if you collide with another vehicle or something else such as a parked vehicle, construction debris, guardrails or fence, also if someone hits your parked motorcycle. Comprehensive pays for damage or loss to your motorcycle caused by something other than a collision; including theft, fire, vandalism, windstorm or hitting an animal.

I hope this addresses your concerns, but please let me know if you have more questions. I'm back in the office today and I may leave early to crawl back into bed and recover.

Certainly makes one .. All that being said Teeg (by the way,, THANK YOU for posting up the response brother - YOU DA MAN!!) it makes one wonder how any of this could be different across the country when Medicare is a Federal thing,, isn't it? Seems like if they would refuse to pay in a Michigan vehicular accident they would do so every where... Not trying to :stirthepot:,,,, ok,, maybe just a little:hihi:

We know that the laws in every State may very in a lot of things from speed limits to carrying, to taxes, and on and on and on and Insurance.

Just think Puc. I would not have been covered last year when I came to visit you if, I would have crashed when my tire on the ST gave out. The best insurance I had that day was from above and not below. If ya no what I mean.:thumbsup2:

I am all on board as far as the insurance from above. Still in the middle of having my 2007 Tundra flipped 360 degrees while minding my own business on the way to a meeting with my Pastor at 35 mph. I was told to file it thru my medicare by the lawyer and am still holding on to over 7,700.00 worth of med bills and my credit score is tanking at a fast rate, and all was doing was driving down the road. That was Sept. 21st 2015 and then was told that my settlement would be around 1.5 times my medical bills or at best 2.25. Allstate put the screws to me and I had to fight for every dime to get out of my truck and I bought it brand new and had full coverage!! I was so out of the ballpark on what I thought I had insurance on it was terrible. No tickets,no nothing and a disabled vet with a broke back. Insurance is a great thing if it is there when need it and have enough of it. I was personally told by a Pastor lawyer friend of mine that Allstate was one of the worse and State Farm was one of the best, and I just switched to save money. Have Dairy Land for the bike and can not touch it from any other co. 287.00 a year full coverage as so I think. Keep safe, Jim

Yep,, been there myself Jim,, x2.. A break in at the shop cost me over 30k in lost inventory - Farmers Insurance only paid 200 dollars of that one. Second was a car/deer wreck,, broke my back, 5 back surgeries ended up well into our Catastrophic Fund zone.. Because of some loop holes, ended up paying the overage out of pocket.. REALLY thankful though cause I was waist down parallized, by God's grace and thru the work of a very talented Neuro Surgeon I got back on my feet and back to living again!!

Something I learned thru all that is how important it is to understand the difference between an Insurance Agent and an Insurance Claims Adjuster.. To bad they arent the same person playing by the same rules and as friendly when paying out on a claim as they are when they are selling a policy :big-grin-emoticon:..
