BJB Posted April 9, 2008 #1 Posted April 9, 2008 On my 89 Venture, the headlight dimmer rocker switch is quite stiff to move. Tonight was my first night ride and I noticed I can get both the high beam and low beam to be on at the same time. It really isn't all that hard to do even driving on the highway. My question is will it harm anything to ride this way when no other traffic is around? The extra light is kind of nice. Thanks.
Guest kober Posted April 9, 2008 #2 Posted April 9, 2008 doubling the current going thru the switch will likely damage damage it in the long run. Doubling the heat will almost certainly damage the sealed beam light. This is strictly IMHO, your milage may vary ...
Gearhead Posted April 9, 2008 #3 Posted April 9, 2008 I've thought the same thing but arrived at the same conclusion as Kober. Some contact cleaner or even WD40 would free up that switch. Jeremy
