I keep blowing the fuse and lose my brake light, turn signal, Tach and display read out. Its erratic but only happens when I press the brakes. Where do I start? Oh I have an 84 standard

All of those things should not be on the same fuse.

Which fuse is blowing?

If someone did some creative rewiring you may have to try to determine what they did to it and it will be difficult for us to help find a non stock issue without being there.

The only other possibility is a ground issue that is causing things to back feed thru other circuits. Those electrons can get awful creative at finding a way to complete a circuit.

It's the 3rd one up from the bottom. I tend to think its in the ground somewhere maybe lol

Third fuse from the bottom is a 15A fuse for the ignition

If that fuse blows it should take out the ignition of which the tach is part of.

The second fuse from the bottom is a 15A fuse for the signals and brake light.

The wiring diagram is http://www.venturerider.org/wiring/84-85%20Yamaha%20Venture%20L%20Wiring%20Diagram%20Rev%20C.pdf

Well I think we got it fixed. Thanks so much for talking me through it. I have rode last two days and no blown fuse. It ended up being green with yellow stripe wire behind the headlight that went to the hand brake.

Did it rub thru or something?

Yes but it was something I had done probably I had changed my headlight out a couple months back. So probably wasn't careful enough making sure nothing was rubbing. Just got done riding today and it was all good.
