I would like to ask, "Other than the obvious," except that it is not all completely obvious to me as yet what this will entail... I am considering removing the trunk and converting the Venture to a Tour Deluxe. I want to retain the radio and communications with the passenger if I can. I do not need the CB, but that would be OK too. I do want to put on the removable RSTD passenger back rest and assume I would need the brackets that come from the Tour Deluxe.

I assume you get the idea and ask if anyone has done this? I would appreciate any input on what issues to expect or things to consider/advice.

There have been a few over the years that have done what you're planning. Maybe someone will chime in with the necessary stuff required if they're still lurking....

I removed my trunk and and relocated the CB to the left saddle bag and made a bracket that bolted on to the license plate bracket for the antennas. I did not have the removable backrest but I did replace the rear fender with a tour deluxe one to solo it out. The passenger Intercom connection is under the passenger seat so all you need to do is add an extension to it to keep the passenger capabilities.

I appreciate the input Joe. I was wondering if one just needed the outside brackets that the backrest attaches to for it. I wonder if they will bolt right on to the sub frame under the fender without having to change anything else. I also wonder if anyone has these parts around.

I do a lot of wondering...

Is the RSTD rear fender different than the Venture?

I have found the back rest and brackets/struts that the back rest mounts to. That took some time to do without purchasing new and are on their way. I plan to keep the passenger seat/pillion so that is not an issue. I see that Joe mentioned making brackets and mounting the antennae to the license plate. Are there any issues with them being placed closer together? Are there any other solutions/suggestions about remounting the antennae before I start tearing down for the conversion?
