rbig1 Posted January 24, 2016 #1 Posted January 24, 2016 well tried to start bike was going to ride it a short ways. Could not keep it running till it warmed up10 degrees. Are these bikes that cold blooded it was over 20 degrees. It would fire but not run.
MikeWa Posted January 24, 2016 #2 Posted January 24, 2016 It should run when cold. Did you have the choke on? Sometimes people disconnect the carb heaters. Which are useful when the temp dips below the carb freeze up point. Mike
Flyinfool Posted January 24, 2016 #3 Posted January 24, 2016 Do you still have summer blend gas in it? Winter blend has more of the lighter fractions to help vaporization and cold weather starting.
Guest Jamsie Posted January 24, 2016 #4 Posted January 24, 2016 chyck that your cylinders are firing by checking exhaust pipe temps. make sure ypou dont burn yourself. i have a RSV running on front cylinders only and its suprising how little vibration there is. today i changed the plugs and added a bottle of uk`s equivilent of seafoam to a half tank. did 15 miles and was on resevere 3 miles after light came on . still not firing , so looks like a complete carb strip inspection and clean. previously tested the spark with new plugs and a tester so i dont suspect the coils. but i will check the coil earths when i get the time to do a strip down
