videoarizona Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Scenerio: Took off the vent hose from tank wanting to check to see if it was blocked. I seem to now have a fuel starvation issue at high rpms full throttle. Could be spark related but new plugs and timing and advance are not adjustable. Question: I tried to blow into the vent hose but felt a lot of back pressure...like it was blocked. Is this the result of the roll over valve in the vent line? Should I have sucked instead of blown to check if valve was plugged? (down guys!!) TIA, david Edited January 19, 2016 by videoarizona add
djh3 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I presume you are talking vent hose for fuel tank at neck? It may have a check valve in it, which is only going to allow air flow into the tank. The cap should vent, but to make sure you are getting flow thru the little tube I would open the cap as you may not be able to over come the relief of the cap.
videoarizona Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Thanks, Dion. I got a response from a dealer mechanic.. He said the valve is designed to keep gas in tank if bike goes down but should vent air back into tank. Not sure about the last part... Went for a run today to check out Chinese tach and RSV pulled right up to limiter. Maybe it was just a clog. Put a new filter in this part summer. BTW, tach was junk.
