ReinyRooster Posted January 16, 2016 #1 Posted January 16, 2016 Well sadly I did not win any portion of the Power Ball lottery. What I get a kick out of though is people that win large lottery amounts and then say "My life won't change." REALLY?? Unless before the winning, you could walk into any car or bike dealer and simply buy what you wanted without having to even ask the price....your life will change. Then you also need to think about the security aspect of it....perhaps it's just my former LEO mentality but think about the security......some idiot is going to see your face on TV, realize you......or your wife......or your kids....or your dog are worth tons of money and either burglarize your home, rob you personally or kidnap a family member for ransom. You continue working and some co-worker or just a member of the public recognizes you from seeing you on TV as the winner and and suddenly they come up with some bogus lawsuit that you discriminated against them at work, or some other BS story, hoping you'll settle and simply pay them out to shut them up. After a big win you have to know that you will suddenly having an amazing number of "friends"that you haven't seen in years that want to re-connect, and charities and other groups hounding you for support. Long lost family relatives will come crawling out of the woodwork. To say "My life won't change" after a big win is just ridiculous.
Flyinfool Posted January 16, 2016 #2 Posted January 16, 2016 And the biggest change is that almost half of them file bankruptcy within 5 years.
Guest Jamsie Posted January 16, 2016 #3 Posted January 16, 2016 isnt that the while point of buying a ticket.:mo money: to have financial security for the rest of your life. buy your dream home, car bike etc. to go on exotic holidays and see places you would never of had the opportunity to go to before. And have some left over to help your personal causes
mraf Posted January 16, 2016 #4 Posted January 16, 2016 I would move. A moving target is hard to hit. My numerous homes would be fortresses. Never ever be the center of attention. Never turn in the card right away. I heard you never turn in the card in person to use your lawyer. Your right, life could never be the same for you or your family. But it could be something that I could get used to Reiney.
cowpuc Posted January 16, 2016 #5 Posted January 16, 2016 I still think it would have been fun to been one of those winners I would have dressed up in my biker clothes to go in front of the TV Camera's, had Tip and Tweeks standing there next to me, invited all my friends here who were on the list and would be getting new bikes to come up on the stage in front of the TV camera's and all give a healthy "VentureRider.ORG ROCKS" shout and then all of us wave to the world:big-grin-emoticon: Figure that would cover all the security needs I would ever have cause most bad guys are usually shy about messing with crazy people:big-grin-emoticon:.
BlueSky Posted January 16, 2016 #6 Posted January 16, 2016 If they insist on revealing who won, you'd definitely have to move to a secure location and maybe even hire a body guard if the win is unusually large. If your kids are young and you give them a lot of money, you may kill their incentive to do anything productive with their lives. Winning would not be all good. Or you could live like Beyonce and husband JayZ. They don't own a home. They live in hotel suites, LA in the winter, NYC in the summer, or Paris when they feel like it. My son records Bey and he goes with them most of the time. He records her wherever she is, even in hotel rooms because she is almost always working on a new material.

How unamerican.:rotf: Now that sounds like a great job.
beastwood Posted January 17, 2016 #8 Posted January 17, 2016 You all have probably seen that one of the winners of the Power Ball lives in California. Would you believe the 7-Eleven store that sold the winning ticket is only one mile from my home. I got my tickets at the local donut shop, but the seven eleven is also nearby. Sorry guys and gals, I don't have the millions.
ReinyRooster Posted January 17, 2016 Author #9 Posted January 17, 2016 In Ontario, it is mandatory that the winners name and picture be released.....of course they would make that rule to help promote their lottery.
Flyinfool Posted January 17, 2016 #10 Posted January 17, 2016 In the USA it is by state. Some states allow you to remain anonymous and some require that your name and picture be released for advertizing.
