SilvrT Posted January 13, 2016 #1 Posted January 13, 2016 To Sweden! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/sweden-introduces-six-hour-work-day-a6674646.html
aharbi Posted January 13, 2016 #2 Posted January 13, 2016 I spent some time working in Sweden. They do have some nice benefits like a new father can take up to a year off to be with his new family, the new mother also has the year off with pay as well. Healthcare is FREE but you do have to wait months for an appointment. Because their taxes provide so many services they call it the "Moms". You have to like winter :-) Their tax is progressive, the more you make the more you pay and is one of if not the highest in the world. But I loved the country, the people, the infrastructure. I'd go back - in the summer :-)
Eck Posted January 13, 2016 #3 Posted January 13, 2016 Sounds like an employee moral booster to me...but after they implement the 6 day work week, they implement mandatory overtime to meet customer schedule demands. So McDonalds opens at 6am closes at noon, Hardee's opens at noon and closes at 6pm, restaurants open at 3pm and close at 9pm.....wonder how they are going to all be on the same page / same 6 hours..
uncledj Posted January 13, 2016 #4 Posted January 13, 2016 I'm an HVAC service tech, so that wouldn't work too well for me. I'm needed where I'm needed for as long as I'm needed. During the hot Summer months I work long hours and make extra $ in the process. I generally work between 2200 and 2400 hours in a year. I kind of like it the way it is. If anything, I'd like more consistent overtime.
SilvrT Posted January 13, 2016 Author #5 Posted January 13, 2016 I'm an HVAC service tech, so that wouldn't work too well for me. Even the 8 hr work day doesn't work well for folks like yourself. There's always an exception to the "norm". When I was self employed in the Computer biz I would often put in 16 hour days, 7 days a week. Mind you, I made a lot more money than I do now at a job that's 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Main difference now is I get to enjoy a life outside of work, I'm virtually stress-free, and healthier.
Daveand Barbie Posted January 14, 2016 #7 Posted January 14, 2016 If you are seriously considering a move, don't take your wife or daughters with you. The immigrant rape culture there is completely out of control.
Bert2006 Posted January 14, 2016 #8 Posted January 14, 2016 That would actually cut my workday in half Wonder if the pay is adjusted equally
