Prairiehammer Posted January 14, 2016 #26 Posted January 14, 2016 Moved the post to the tech library. If you do another that you feel is better, I'll replace it. Either way, thanks so much for the contribution. I noticed that you and Ed just posted a write-up about the proportioning valve on the First Gen. In the write-up, Ed cautions that the "brass center pipe" should not be removed for fear of damage. That part must be removed in order to clean and inspect the primary working part of the proportioning valve. There will be no damage done by removing the copper colored spindle. It simply slides into the bore of the proportioning valve. Attached to the spindle is a nitrile cup. This "rubber" cup is prone to damage or debris. Additionally, there is a constrictive port behind the cup that should be inspected and insured to be clear. Attached are pertinent photos I have taken when I disassembled my proportioning valve.
Yammer Dan Posted January 15, 2016 #27 Posted January 15, 2016 I removed everything in there and carefully cleaned and it worked great. I'm thinking of tackling those 2nd Gen brakes. Something ain't right!!
