ventureblue Posted April 7, 2008 #1 Posted April 7, 2008 What windshields are out there and where is the best prices?
Freebird Posted April 7, 2008 #2 Posted April 7, 2008 Many of us prefer the Clearview shields. In my opinion, there is not a better shield made. They are NOT cheap though and I think that you have to buy directly from them. They often have "seconds" though that can save you quiet a lot of money and the reports that I've heard are that it is hard to find what makes them a "second".
1BigDog Posted April 7, 2008 #3 Posted April 7, 2008 www.clearviewshields.com A little pricey but well worth the money. Order the one with the vent. you'll be glad you did.
yamahamer Posted April 7, 2008 #4 Posted April 7, 2008 I GOT A SHOW CHROME 4" SHORTER AND 5" WIDER GOOD PRICE NOT SURE OFF HOW LONG IT WILL LAST BUT FOR TRIAL AND ERROR ON SIZE GOOD PRICE. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Smoke-WINDSHIELD-99-08-Yamaha-1300-Royal-Star-Venture_W0QQitemZ230239842286QQihZ013QQcategoryZ35590QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
gibvel Posted April 7, 2008 #5 Posted April 7, 2008 Rider magazine just did an article on windshields/windscreens. You think Clear Views are expensive. Most of the ones, with comparable options (vent, tint), in the article were $300 and above. I don't think I saw one company that had anything for the RSV either. Granted, they may not have had all of the companies represented but .... I think some have found replacement shields at JC Whitney: Show Chrome @ JC Whitney Looked a couple of other places and all I could find was the Show Chrome. Doesn't mean there's not others out there but ....
royalstarjac Posted April 7, 2008 #6 Posted April 7, 2008 Cee Baileys makes good ones at a good price. Got one on my RSTC. I currently have a Show Crome on the RSV. I'm very happy with it.-Jack

yamahamer Posted April 7, 2008 #8 Posted April 7, 2008 Not Dark At All Just A Light Smoke Night Vision Is No Problem. I'M 5'10" AND CAN SEE OVER OR THROUGH DEPENDING ON POSTURE HARDLY ANY CHANGE IN WIND BUFFER.

SaltyDawg Posted April 7, 2008 #10 Posted April 7, 2008 I have no experience with these wind shields but it is another source. I use a clearview myself. http://www.ceebaileys.com/yamaha/royalstarventurews.html
ventureblue Posted April 7, 2008 Author #11 Posted April 7, 2008 Thanks. that is the cheaperst ive seen the show chrome windshield. actually this was the cheapest show chrome i found http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=4350&categoryID=1699
Stratcat Posted April 7, 2008 #12 Posted April 7, 2008 I have no experience with these wind shields but it is another source. I use a clearview myself. http://www.ceebaileys.com/yamaha/royalstarventurews.html Anybody running the above in their 7" black opaque summer shield? If so do you have a picture on your bike with it?
Color01 Posted April 7, 2008 #13 Posted April 7, 2008 I got also the shorter show chrome windshield with tint on my bike ...I love it.
Riderduke Posted April 8, 2008 #14 Posted April 8, 2008 Got the shorter show chrome on my bike for the past 3 years and love it. I wish I had gotten the tinted one. It would cut down some of the glear on bright days. I've seen the tinted one and it is not dark at all so there is no problem seeing at night. If you come to the Va Meet and eat you can see a non-tinted one and I believe that Color01 is going to be there with his tinted one.
2WHEELSFORME Posted April 8, 2008 #15 Posted April 8, 2008 I have used the tall Yamaha, the low Yamaha and the medium Show Chrome. I prefer the low Yamaha but I do like to look over and not thru. I also think the low one looks the best on the bike.
taz62359 Posted April 8, 2008 #16 Posted April 8, 2008 You could also try JP Cycles for the SHOW CHROME shield. They have them for $96.99 for clear and $89.99 for the tinted. That's where I got mine. http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=0E741B7C-C2CD-4A15-8539-BE75C75B954E

Dieseldawg Posted April 10, 2008 #19 Posted April 10, 2008 Thought about it.Just not sure what it would look like.
mad_fox_3 Posted April 18, 2008 #20 Posted April 18, 2008 What about this: http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=65 ? enjoy...
jlh3rd Posted April 18, 2008 #21 Posted April 18, 2008 just installed the clearview xl on my venture......one thing about the clearview is that you can use rain-x on it.....you can't on any other's
bugfish69 Posted April 23, 2008 #22 Posted April 23, 2008 How much wider is the clearview than the stock windshield? Is it as wide as the showchrome?
yamahamer Posted April 23, 2008 #23 Posted April 23, 2008 How much wider is the clearview than the stock windshield? Is it as wide as the showchrome? 5" wider thats 2.5"s on each side it will come to the end of your chrome trim.
Riderduke Posted April 24, 2008 #24 Posted April 24, 2008 How much wider is the clearview than the stock windshield? Is it as wide as the showchrome? I beleive that the show Chrome and Clearview windsheilds are about the same width. But the show chrome only comes in a short windsheild (like I have). If you are looking to reduce wind on the passenger then go with a Clearview.
TESchoener Posted May 2, 2008 #25 Posted May 2, 2008 I put the 4" lower SHOW CHROME Smoke windshield on my '08 Silver Venture. Both my wife and I think it should be the style and size Yamaha should have engineered on the bike in the first place. I can now look over it, which is a strong preference. Everything is clearer - a safety issue. Cannot notice any wind difference (still goes over my head). I paid $80.00 on one of the sites recommended in this string. Totally satisfied. Tom
