bj66 Posted December 3, 2015 #1 Posted December 3, 2015 Now that is cold and white on the ground, to stay busy I decided to make an ice shanty for fishing. I already have a flip over, but looking to make something a little more comfortable. So if you have any pictures of your set ups, I'd like to see them for some inspiration and ideas! Thanks in advance....
eagleeye Posted December 3, 2015 #2 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Are you talking about building a permanent shack? I had one for several years, but I found that it was too convenient and didn't get out and explore as much as I would have liked so I sold it. This is my one man windbock. And my permanent shack, also one man. I have several portable shacks that I can use, but prefer my one man windblock. Edited December 3, 2015 by eagleeye
bj66 Posted December 3, 2015 Author #3 Posted December 3, 2015 With my youngest still in school, day long trips are kind of out the question. Have to get her to the school bus (long driveway, rural farm) in morning so that can mess up the morning bite. Also lots of ball games and practices after school. I have 2 local lakes that are withing 25 miles. I can get over to either one and put in a fairly good day. Not terribly concerned about mobility, one lake I've fished lots of times and know where to go. The other is a shallow lake with flat muddy bottom not a lot of structure per say. A few walleyes and mostly northern pike. I just want to be more comfortable than my portable. Plus it gives me something to do right now. Grain farming with no livestock makes for a slow winter......
