Yammer Dan Posted December 3, 2015 #1 Posted December 3, 2015 Know of a quick cure for muscle cramps?? I think I do. Got them in the bottoms of my feet tonight. Couldn't stay in bed walking was only way to ease them. Took a good drink of vinegar (couple spoonfulls) and in couple minutes they were gone!
ragtop69gs Posted December 3, 2015 #2 Posted December 3, 2015 Dan, have your potassium levels checked, often you'll find they are low when you experience cramping. I'm not a doc so have them take a look, there could be other causes. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
etcswjoe Posted December 3, 2015 #3 Posted December 3, 2015 My Dad always said eating bananas helped him, guess they are high in potassium, also take Jay's advice and get them checked out.
Flyinfool Posted December 3, 2015 #4 Posted December 3, 2015 I had low potassium for a while, doc gave me pills for it. I asked if I could eat a couple of bananas every day instead. Doc said that I would have to eat at least 100 bananas per day to get what the pill had.
Yammer Dan Posted December 3, 2015 Author #5 Posted December 3, 2015 Dang I better git started!! 100 is gonna take til lunch!!!
Beau-Kat Posted December 3, 2015 #6 Posted December 3, 2015 Hey Yammer, Just read this post: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?113537-Electric-Fence-(Oldie-but-Goodie) Was this you're own personal story? Just wondering since I read the comment #2 at the end. Lol.
Yammer Dan Posted December 3, 2015 Author #7 Posted December 3, 2015 I learned at a early age not to pee on the fence!!!
MikeWa Posted December 3, 2015 #8 Posted December 3, 2015 So. Will peeing on an electric fence ease muscle cramps? Mike
BlueSky Posted December 3, 2015 #9 Posted December 3, 2015 Being dehydrated can cause cramps. Are you taking a diuretic for bp?
cecdoo Posted December 3, 2015 #10 Posted December 3, 2015 Know of a quick cure for muscle cramps?? I think I do. Got them in the bottoms of my feet tonight. Couldn't stay in bed walking was only way to ease them. Took a good drink of vinegar (couple spoonfulls) and in couple minutes they were gone! Yellow mustard (French's) open your mouth and have Patti shoot it rite in, Your cramps will be gone in 2 minutes. I get them in the muscles inside my thighs, worst pain ever, worse then kidney stones and they are brutal! As soon as I cramp up Kim is off for the mustard, tastes better then vinegar too. Craig
Zzyzx Posted December 4, 2015 #11 Posted December 4, 2015 Dan, Next time you have a doctor visit have them do a thyroid blood panel to check if you might have hypothyroidism. I started having some off and on leg cramping about a year ago then 3 months ago during a routine blood test my doc discovered my thyroid was not working properly. She said it could be a cause of many things including a cause of cramps. She put me on the lowest dose of thyroid meds and the cramps have disappeared. Had another blood test done 4 weeks ago and everything is back to normal but will need to be on the meds from now on. Hope you get over them.
Sailor Posted December 4, 2015 #12 Posted December 4, 2015 I had the same thing. Low potassium. Doc said eat a banana every day. Banana Daiquiris are good but I don't think that is what he meant. A banana a day keeps the cramps away.
Larry1963 Posted December 4, 2015 #13 Posted December 4, 2015 Apple vinegar or pickle juice, my Dr told me about the pickle juice.

You sure that was the vinegar bottle?I eat lost of food with vinegar on them and I still get the cramps, but when I hit the Coors bottle they seem to go away and everything else too.

Barrycuda Posted December 5, 2015 #16 Posted December 5, 2015 Low potassium and sodium counts that are off will contribute like others said. Try adding pedialyte to your diet. Either drink solo or dilute w water. This is also great for recovery of soreness and feeling low energy. They make a chocolate milk version which I haven't tried. Orange is the best flavor. We use it after we train in Muay Thai and Jiu jitsu. Simply works.,more start saving your appetite for those 100 bananas. If they cramps continue, you'd might want to go get them checked out
Yammer Dan Posted December 5, 2015 Author #17 Posted December 5, 2015 Thanks Guys. The vinegar seems to work within minutes. With my legs history I was getting them bad in it and then they started in the bottoms of both feet usually in the middle of the rare nights that I was getting good sleep' The Warden doesn't care for getting woke to help me rub them out either. Thing with the vinegar is the usually come back. I'll work on some of the suggestions here for a more permanent cure but remember the vinegar it might help some others as some of us are getting a little past our 21st Birthday. Oh yeah the cure I read called for a Honey and Vinegar mix. I think it was tablespoon of vinegar to teaspoon of honey. We were out of honey so I tried straight vinegar and it worked. We usually have Honey so I'll make sure we get some and try it like that. After I eat those 100 bananas!!
Yammer Dan Posted December 11, 2015 Author #18 Posted December 11, 2015 Vinegar didn't seem to work. Took shot of mustard. Craig you didn't say how much. Took about tablespoon. Bout 10 min they started calming down. Was it vinegar or mustard?? I could have throw a couple slices of ham in the mix....
djadam Posted December 11, 2015 #19 Posted December 11, 2015 Orange juice is very high in Potassium too!! Couple glasses of that and 100 bananas should definitely solve the problem!!!
Yammer Dan Posted December 11, 2015 Author #20 Posted December 11, 2015 Orange juice sounds good. I've been avoiding it because of the sugar and calories.

Yammer Dan Posted December 12, 2015 Author #23 Posted December 12, 2015 Had them again last night. They hit different places legs, feet, last night in my side where the broken ribs were. Wasn't good. I got on weight machine to ease them. And some mustard and vinegar.
Sailor Posted December 13, 2015 #24 Posted December 13, 2015 Orange juice is good but make sure it is the natural stuff. The reconstituted and condensed stuff is full of sugar.
