Read somewhere with the acquisition of Brammo electric & the efforts in the Zero-TT that Victory would be redeveloped into a performance brand and Indian would become the cruiser brand.

Sure looks like direct competition for the Harley V-Rod,, good looking scoot. Be interesting to see how they run. Gotta hand it to those folks at Polaris, they sure been coming out with some awesome stuff!

And since the last Buell auction fell thru due to the winer not being able to secure financing, The local rumor is that Polaris is still interested in picking up the Buell line. That would certainly fall in line with wanting to go fast.

Looks very similar to the engine in the Indian Scout.

Right on Mover:thumbsup: and the new 750 and 500 HD's too. Have ridden the HD 750 a few times, sucker moves right along for 750 V-Twin. Have not had a chance to ride a new Scout but I would not be surprised that its a good performer. My neighbor and really good friend (we both like to spin wrenches and ride bikes) has a new V-Rod and I just picked up a beater V-Max to :stickpoke:with him, the V-Rod runs pretty dog gone good too. I keep :witch_brew: with em pointing out that if Porsche would have given em the other two cylinders he would have a chance :big-grin-emoticon:.. We got another really good friend of ours who has :Im not listening toabout picking up a new Scout and puttin a whoopin on us.. No idea if that would happen BUT,, sure is a blast :stickpoke: and :stirthepot: about em.. In the end, it seems like both HD and and now Vic might be headed into the non-pushrod watercooled zone dont it.. It will be interesting to see where it all ends up sales wise. I know that the V-Rod has been a rough sell. Those lop eared air cooled, pushrod, tractor motored Harley folks (dont get me wrong - I actually LOVE em too ) are the extreme when it comes to brand loyalty - willing to pay top dollar for a motor design right out of the early 1900's but will shove a top level high end first class designed modern day engined scoot away faster than a kid being offered a plate of Califlower for dinner:doh:

Personally, and just an opinion, I think if Polaris would add an aggressive push toward establishing a HUGE Dealership network and make it a normal course of franchising to give those franchised dealers the ability and support to handle all products - right now, a Vic Dealership cannot work on an Indian which can make the Indian Dealerships a little difficult to locate - they would actually stand a chance at taking a bite out of the Harley stronghold. It's amazing how many Harley Shops a person will pass when out touring the country and how few Polaris Shops you find..

This is fun,, thanks for posting this thread up @BigLenny:thumbsup:

Im a Victory fan. I think they're cool looking bikes that gives buyers a more progressive look while still maintaining their love of V-twins. Not everybody wants to ride a V-Twin tourer that has the styling ques from 40 years ago. However, I feel like they need to get busy with some upgrades. Harley, has upped their game considerably in the technology and design area. Victory's Vision, and Cross Country Tour bikes are getting a little long in the tooth. The Vision has seen no technology or design change since it was introduced, except for anti-lock brakes. I was in a Harley dealership last week, and what they're offering on their bikes right now is pretty dang impressive.

I have liked most of the Victory's I have rode. Really like the ride and handling of the Vision, but the storage kind of makes me leary to seriously consider one. I rode a Scout just for kicks last winter @ a dealer demo days. Not really impressed with it. Guess just not anything I'm interested in. The shear size of the Big Indian just scared me half to death. LOL Dunno why but it did.

Im like you DJ, The Vision was a really nice ride experience for me too, but I just don't get why they haven't addressed the undersized saddlebags. They look massive from the outside, but hugely disappoint when you open them.

Having the more angular bags I think would make it a challenge to get things packed. Would be a lot of nooks and cranny's to fill. So I guess if I went "Harley style" touring and trailered the bike to where ever so I could ride, I wouldnt have to worry about it. Just pack clothes in the car.

On the side note about dealer networks. I have a couple of friends that ride the HD bikes. Seems most of their "road brakes/stops" at at HD dealers. Do those things have some sort of tracking device installed? One of my friends does some

, but there is always a few stops at the dealer. LOL

But....some of the Harley shops you see are only HD branded items and not bikes. They sell shirts, dog bowls, bar stools....no bikes or accessories.

Do you have an examples of that? In all my travels, the shops that I see have a lot of bikes on the floor. Not saying that they don't exist, I just haven't run across them. One exception I suppose is a store inside the Minneapolis airport.

The announcement about the Victory Ignition may very well happen tomorrow. It is based on the 156 Project, which was the one off Pikes Peak racer that was built for this past summer. It qualified 4th and first in class, but crashed in the race.

it seems that Victory is attempting to add a performance series to their line while Indian remains the Retro series.

That Ignition Concept really turns my crank, except for the forward controls.

That's actually pretty cool. I've never run across one of those stores but maybe I'm just not looking for them. Interesting though. It actually says a lot about their marketing genius. I wonder how many other brands could run profitable stores selling only branded clothing and etc. I tell you, love Harley or hate them....they are marketing geniuses.

And THAT is a FACT Bossman!!! REALLY COOL to think that a full blown motorcycle business can exist without even needing to sell bikes:big-grin-emoticon:

All other companies could do themselves a lot of good if they would not only follow HD's lead in bike design but also take some hints from their marketing strategies. Across the board,, The Motor Company is truly an amazing icon!

Don,

Your're right! I highly respect what they have done, and continue to do with their brand. Heck, I don't ride a Harley, but my main riding boots, and my favorite riding gloves are Harley brand. I've even had a pair of regular prescription eye glasses that were Harley Davidson brand.
