We have been looking for a sheepskin for awhile for our bike seat. We have a new IKEA store now in West Chester, Ohio, which is about 30 miles away from where we live. We went there this past week and discovered that they sell a very nice one for a reasonable price. I have photos of the skeepskin, with the label. They cost $20.00 in the store.

If anybody is interested in one, and you do not live near an IKEA store, maybe I could buy one for you and ship it to you. We tried it on our 99 RSV and it fit perfectly.

Let me know what you think.

Ron wanted to me to tell you, he was not attacked by our neighbors pet polar bear.

Is that the only color they sell. I would like to get a Black one if they have one.

I suspect it could be dyed black.

Good deal ! I cannot even get them near that cost from my wholesaler . Only ones I can get are from US and they are of premium grade .

I bought one of those a few years ago but I didn't like it. The wool was much to long to suit me.

I tried it all one summer but it was to hot for me. I finally bought one of the sheep skins from Alaska Sheep or whatever it's called.

Good luck, maybe it will work for you.

Those are the cat's meow. We picked ours up at our IKEA in Toronto a few years ago, and used it all the time on the Virago (pic below).

Vicki hasn't needed it on the RSV and neither do I. But now that she's wanting to ride the Honda, she'll put it on that bike I'm sure.

Cheers,

Just a thought. There's a Kodel saddle pad that might work even better for those tender backsides. You can find them at every saddle shop, and farm supply/feed store. They come in permanent colors that won't bleed if they get wet. It's the same stuff they use to prevent bedsores in hospitals. Looks a lot like sheepskin...

Funny that you should post this.......................I have seen these on e-bay and wondered how it would work on the RSV. Most on e-bay are going for $35 or more with shipping. I may stop at IKEA next week when we have the VA M&E and pick up one for my bike if they are $20 in the store.

What do you say Rideduke:think: A stop by IKEA on Sunday to check out sheepskins.

My wife got a black one from Alaska Leather, single seat only, for $50. a couple years ago & LOVED it. We left the dogs in the garage one weekend & they ate it.

Then, she developed a tailbone problem, so got her a 3/4 inch gelpad with tailbone cutout & sheepskin cover, She LOVED it.

Then got a new bike/seat & doesn't really need it now, but uses it anyway.

I never tried either one.

For year 'round riding, especialy summer, most prefer the 1" nap [with no seams in the leather].

Peggy, what length sheepskin did you get????? We were running late out of DC today, so we didn't get a chance to stop at Ikea, but I will be going back soon to get one and want to make sure I get the right length. Thanks.

I have used an IKEA sheepskin for years and it works great. I put two groments on each side and attach it with a bungie cord run under the front and behind the rear seat. I bought a black on first but it seemed to fade pretty fast. You can order them online but it is better to go in to the store because you will find different sizes and colors to chose from.

Hey Nate,

I measured it without Ron standing behind it, It is 35 1/2inches.

I cannot wait to try it.

Thanks Peggy, I will make sure I get one that is at least that long. I heard many good things about the sheepskin and can't wait to try it myself.
