I have to refill the clutch master cylinder about once or twice a year. Keeps the fluid clean.

I have the seals to fix it, so I thought I'd do it Sat.

I can not loosen the two allen screws that hold the slave cylinder on.

Tried a good allen key and stopped when it almost slipped over.

Tried my impact screwdriver with no joy. However the allen key I was using was long and may have reduced the shock.

So, I put the bike back together.

I may weld a nut to the allen screw for a more secure connection.

And the heat from that may help loosen the screws.

I thought about drilling the heads off the screws. That would allow me to loosen the slave, but I may not be able to get it out because of the limited access. And I would still have two screw studs buried in a hole to deal with.

Any ideas.

Get an allen socket, attach to 3\8 drive extension, and charge the battery on your impact driver. Insert the allen socket, push solidly, turn the impact driver to the left and squeeze the trigger. If it don't come out, you can then go the weld route. You may also try heating the screw, then with some contact cleaner cool the head and then impact it.

... Had the same problem with those allen head screws on the slave. My allen bit slipped/stripped and would no longer bite.

What I did is kinda squash the allen hole back in a little. I used a 12" long 3/8" extension as a sort of punch and held the male end firmly against the allen screw on the slave and gave it a couple of swift and firm whacks with a decent sized ball peen hammer. Just enough to to kind of reverse mushroom the allen hole. I did it enough that I actually had to tap the allen bit in with a hammer. My banging started out kind of gentle and became progressively more brisk. You have to whack it pretty smartly.

I had previously discovered this tactic on my Vstar 1100.

I then used my 1/2 inch drive hand impact reduced to 3/8ths, then to 1/4, then a 6" extension, then the adapter and allen bit... couple of brisk whack and...

Viola...Came right out!
