Okay, as the title states, thus is my first venture and first yamaha. Coming from a honda shadow ace(sold) harley ultraclassic (wrecked)harley 883 (traded for ultraclassic). The P.O of this motorcycle who was a horrible electrician btw (still cleaning up wires Scotch taped everywhere) installed an airhorn on this bike. The compressor is in the left lower fairing and there's also a chrome horn right by the right plastic cover (coolant cover). I press the horn switch and nothing.i checked the wiring to the compressor and it was all jacked up so I removed it for now. There is a brown and pink wire by the compressor hanging though. Any ideas there? Also, the horn on right side of bike has pink wore and brown wire but both have constant 12v when key on. Very confused. Please help.

It is normal to see 12V on both horn wires. The Horn is wired hot. The horn switch supplies the ground for the circuit.

Pull the 2 wires off the horn, now only on of them will have 12V, connect the one that is still hot back onto the horn. Ground the other terminal of the horn and it should blow.

Your compressor should be hooked up thru a relay, the horn switch can not handle that many amps for long.

I assumed that one side should be ground and the other would be a switched positive but that makes sense the way you're explaining it so I could possibly have a bad ground in my handlebar switch that I might have to trace
