Great adVENTURE Posted October 26, 2015 Author #26 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Pretty sure scorpion makes a whole line with a small pump on the bottom of the back that pumps up to tighten up the cheek pads. Edited October 29, 2015 by Great adVENTURE
Great adVENTURE Posted October 29, 2015 Author #27 Posted October 29, 2015 Just looking on revzilla and they have the Nolan n104 outlaw reg $449 on close out for $279. It looks like the sell there own wired and wireless options for communications. Has anyone used the wired option to the factory system?
Great adVENTURE Posted December 5, 2015 Author #28 Posted December 5, 2015 Just an update... I still haven't purchased a new lid yet but I have tried on the Bell revolver only to be disappointed. Oval head shapes do not fit into ROUND holes without some immediate discomfort
bj66 Posted December 5, 2015 #29 Posted December 5, 2015 I bought a Vega modular about 4 years ago. I like it, not sold on modular latch though. Latches don't look to be metal. Reason I bought it was I fit between 2 sizes. Vega at the time I bought mine had sizes that ran a little different and it made it easier to find my helmet. I ordered off the net because I couldn't find one to try on. I got lucky I guess. Might be worth a look......just looked at a '15 model and chin bar latch is all metal which is nice to see.
djh3 Posted December 6, 2015 #30 Posted December 6, 2015 Our flight helmets (SPH5 or HGU56) have what is termed a "TPL" or "thermoplastic liner". To the common man, it would look like simple bubble wrap. The helmets still have teh styrofaom like layer, the TPL is for final fit, comfort and some impact absorption. It's inside a soft fabric sleeve. It is removable (IE: washable), made in layers and peel-able. We start removing layers until we find a good fit and no "hot spots". If a guy has a certain point on his head or it's a bit of an "off" shape, we have a procedure where the TPL is heated and then placed on the individuals head. It's then custom fit and put back in the helmet. You then still have the option of peeling a layer or two if it's still uncomfortable. Now, hair growth is a factor in such a precise fit to an individual. But we're military so hair growth is a big variable for us..... But something similar would be a nice thing to see in a motorcycle helmet. Something you can custom fit to your head. Whether or not it would meet DOT requirements I have no idea. But it is meant to protect us in crashes that can exceed 20 G's, so there must be something to it..... When I was in USAF they went thru a time when flight crews doing air drop mission on cargo aircraft like C-130 and C-141 (which I was assigned to) wore some sort of a composite helmet with visor, sun shield etc. Fancy bugger anyways sounds kind of like yours. We didnt wear them on regular missions, just airdrops. So as a precursor to this story of helmets. When I was doing my flight physical and they did all the poking and prodding etc, they also take you finger, hand and foot prints. Wondering why I asked how come. They tech doing the work said "so when you crash we having something to go by to put pieces with parts. Ohhhh So back to the question of why we had to wear helmets only on air drop missions? I Dunno, because chances of a helmet helping with a fall from 10,000 feet @ say 300 mph? Not much.
garyS-NJ Posted December 6, 2015 #31 Posted December 6, 2015 I read plenty of bad about the bell Revolver (first one to come out) last year (or year before) when shopping for a modular. they were giving them away for $99. I liked the GMAX but after reading a lot settled in on the scorpion EXO 900. I love it and just bought my GF the new model which comes flat black and has better vents.. The HJC was a lower quality modular and I don't think there is anything else near that price point.
Pegasus1300 Posted December 7, 2015 #32 Posted December 7, 2015 Looking to replace my very worn out first generation HJC Sy-Maxx. After plenty of research i have come to the decision to get a Bell Revolver Evo particularly the Optimus Hi-Viz Model. I thought i would be happy with the Scorpion EXO CT220 3/4 helmet that I just bought but I really hate it. I realize that i like the modular for being the best of both worlds. Anyone have experience with the Bell Revolver? Also my head measures 22 3/4" which is the high side of medium and low side of large, what size should i get? My must have in a helmet list includes: Hi-Viz paint, Modular, enough mounting point on chin bar for my gopro, comfy enough for 2+ hours at a time, chin curtain to help control the neck beard some, and Transition face shield. My J&M headset isn't a must but i would like that or a bluetooth communication system to be compatible. This helmet seems to meet all of this and the great $200 price point. Anyone want to put there 2 cents in? Thanks guys and gals you all and this forum have been a great guidance. I had a Bell EVO (KBC) and I really liked it. It took my J&M head set just fine and it would take a Senna HM10 just fine. I have also had an HJC Sy Max II and I really liked it and ditto on the headset info. BTW I say liked because I went down in both helmets, they both did what they were supposed to. Of course they are both now junk which mad me mad about the Bell. I was the best fitting helmet I ever bought.
