Im in Indianapolis and ive lost the inner cable of my speedometer. What can i do to fix this? Ive read something about a NAPA part, but i dont know that it was for my bike.

It was lost on the highway... im NOT going out there to look for it. Any input appreciated..

I can't help you with that cable, but a quick road fix suggestion till you return home, buy a cheap GPS with suction cup and disc mount.

They all have real time speed and trip meters to track your mileage.

GPS APP on phone and tape it to your tank or someplace you can see it. I ran for months on an Android app called GPSSPEEDO with my tablet taped to the right side panel ;-)

104 to both of you.. im already using a GPS so i can get my speed, but im pissed my mileage isnt going up.

Anyone else have an idea... i just need the inner cable.

Got to be some dealers located nearby that would have the part. OR...order it and have it shipped to a destination down the road.

If anyone has a spare they can measure...maybe that would help.

Go to any auto parts store and buy a universal speedo cable. It has the same square ends as the stock cable.

Cut it to length and glue the end on. Done!

Extra work, but reverse the speedo casing so that if it comes undone again, you don't lose the cable.

I feel stupid for not having already done this.. ill do the extra work.... THANKS

I got mine at a local Yamaha dealer. It is not discontinued. They used that cable on a lot of bikes.
