Guest divey Posted October 9, 2015 #1 Posted October 9, 2015 We just returned from contributing to the Hawaiian economy for 10 days. I rented this 2012 Bonneville and rode around Oahu for half a day. Fun to ride with lots of power but a ton of heat from the engine which doesn't react well with bare skin! Definitely a beautiful place with great scenery to just cruise along the shorelines. Unfortunately no-one is listed in our Member directory from HI anymore so couldn't meet up with anyone from there. Doug
cowpuc Posted October 11, 2015 #2 Posted October 11, 2015 HOW COOL IS THAT DOUG:scared:,, WOW ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW SONSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got to do the HOLY GRAIL Son! You are the first of my friends that I know of that has gotten to ride THE ISLAND!!:dancefool::clap2: So, how much to rent a scoot, are there lots of places to rent from there? Guess they dont have to much to worry about as far you riding away and heading home with their bike PLUS, you kinda look like a tourist (snicker snicker) and not your typical 1%er biker dude so they probably gave ya a discount rate . Glad you folks got a chance to do Hawaii Doug, sure looks like a TON of fun brother - wayyyy cool!!
cowpuc Posted October 11, 2015 #3 Posted October 11, 2015 Oh, by the way,, THANK YOU for sharing the pic - it is PERFECT!!
videoarizona Posted October 11, 2015 #4 Posted October 11, 2015 Agreed! Thanks for sharing. Trying to remember if Triumph motor heat ever bothered us way back when! Don't think so. To young and stoopid to know better, probably.

To young and stoopid to know better, probably. I know what you mean. A friend way back when I was a teenager had a BSA Thunderbolt. We were too oblivious to things like engine heat and proper riding gear.

I rented from Cruzin Hawaii only because they were the only ones I could rent for a half day. Cost was $79 bucks but after you add in the taxes, insurance, service fees, yada, yada, yada, it came to $125. Pricey for a half day (especially with our current exchange rate) but I doubt I'll ever be back and have the chance again so went for it. Besides, I won our air fare for the trip so made the cost palatable. It was a stretch for me to ride without gear (I did have a lid though) but must admit it was pretty nice just in shorts and a golf shirt. Great roads and courteous drivers, something that's lacking in this part of the world. Doug

You and I think a LOT alike - when the opportunity presents itself you best grab it and go cause ya never know - may be a one time shot!! Actually, I think 125 bucks for half a day of getting to pull off a ride in HAWAII :scared:is very fair!! I'd have been all over that deal like your ol Dad on a free place to camp
kantornado Posted October 12, 2015 #8 Posted October 12, 2015 CONGRATULATIONS!! We did the same thing and had a blast. We rented the bike instead of a car for a week. Rode all over the island,Always had great parking. Most uncomfortable H/D we have ever had the displeasure to ride. But OHH what memory's.

Dale124 Posted October 13, 2015 #11 Posted October 13, 2015 Good for you guys, Doug. That sounds awesome. Barb and I are going to Maui in February for our first ever Hawiaan vacation. You just might have inspired me to rent a bike for a day or so. Dale.

You'll love Maui for sure.
